Generally, Over 75....or in any particular context, anything more than 5 years older than me...however old I am at the time!

Interesting question (had to answer a similar question for my TOPPS Induction training at work).

I think it's quite an 'individual' thing - I remember at school thinking my teachers were really old - but looking back some of them were probably fresh out of training themselves.

Some of the old dears at work (in their 90's - and one 100) think some of the 70-80yr olds are 'young' in comparison to themselves.

DS1 (who's 5) on my birthday guessed that I was 18, told him I was actually 27 and asked how old he thought daddy was............

100 was his reply Grin

desperateSCOUSEwife · 20/03/2006 09:55

It changes. It's roughly 10 years older than my Mum (my Mum will never be old Grin)

She's 55 atm.

My parents are still very active ,dad still works albeit part time.

jayjaybaby · 20/03/2006 14:03

i used to think 30 was old im 24 Blush but i think over eighty as old my gran is 78 and i would rather spend an afternoon with her and tony christie and her dirty jokes than my mum who is 48 shes my dads mum

biglips · 20/03/2006 14:03

70

Nbg · 20/03/2006 14:04

I actually agree with DSW.

My nanna is 71 looks like she's 60 and is probably the fittest person I know.

Dh's grandma is 82 and seems majorly old to me. In looks, the way she walks, what she does etc.

WigWamBam · 20/03/2006 14:05

Depends very much on the person and their outlook, to a certain extent. My dad is almost 70 but he's not old - he looks 20 years younger and his outlook is young. My MIL, on the other hand, is in her 70s but has been old since she was in her 40s (so I'm told) - her attitude, her outlook and her manner are those of an old lady.

quelsouci · 20/03/2006 14:11

When I was 20, I thought 37 was "old". Now I'm 43, I have 2 dc age 5 & 2, a mother who's 67 & who regularly flies over 9 time zones with less trouble than I, a 75 yr old father who skis black pistes at Whistler & Blackcomb as if it were his back yard... I think age must be in the mind. My dh is 56 & often looks as old as my dad, through stress & over-work. True, Mummmy was once a model & has had a facelift, tummy tuck & breast reduction & Dad keeps himself in shape & active both mentally & physically. Yesterday while ironing a weeks' worth of laundry while trying to keep dc from killing each other "that's MINE!", I felt very, very old & tired. It must be a mental attitude. And how well you sleep, how much you worry, how much exercise you get, how well you eat...

throckenholt · 20/03/2006 14:13

some people are old at 50, others are not old at 70.

my grandad and my brother's MIL were the same age - but she was much older than him !

mummygow · 20/03/2006 14:17

I used to think that anyone in there 20's were old until I actuall got to 20. Now I am 30 and I dont really see anyone as old as I see how fast life changes but feel that I dont (my gran who was 90 used to tell me that she didnt feel this age inside and I definately know what she meant now)

jmg1 · 20/03/2006 14:19

You are as old as the woman you are feeling.

Or in most of your cases, as old as the man you are feeling!
