Do they help our ds/dd stay in bed later in the morning. My ds normally wakes up about 8am, but since its been getting lighter, hes waking up earlier every day, now its at 7am.
Thinking of Blackout blinds, but do they work?

My dd had one (it's now fallen down), but she still woke up at around 6am.

Yep - John Lewis do great ones - am just about to go and measure DSs room and get his ordered before the clocks change and he is up to god knows what hours!!

Do not get the curtains - they have top be so flush to the window that you may as well stick them to the frames!!

Argos - and they are so cheap!!!Grin

We used a piece of black out fabric cut to size which we stuck to the window frame with velcro.
It was cheap and brilliant - made a huge difference to dd going to sleep in the summer and her daytime naps so I'm sure it would help with early waking (although 7am sounds great!)

I had the same problem with the blind, but we have strange sloping window frames, at the side.

Thanks you lot!
I know 7am is great, but its still early when use to 8am!!

:)

Probably get them in argos!

We have blackout blinds from Ikea, and blackout linings on the curtains which we got from a local curtain shop.

The blinds are fab, we'd moved so hadn't bothered to put our blinds up in the new house as it was winter at the time. Sure enough, as soon as the light mornings started a few weeks ago, both ds's were getting up about 6am instead of their usual 7-7.30 Shock

Within a few days of putting up the blinds, they were back to getting up at a reasonable time. Cue huge sighs of relief at the Calista household! Wink

The linings just give a bit more added darkness, but are useless unless you have an ordinary curtain track that it close to the wall and not a pole. So obviously no good for tab top curtains.

Good luck with whatever you try!

P.S. We couldn't get ours from Argos as they didn't do them wide enough for our windows. Ikea do them longer and wider than standard fittings if you can't get them at Argos.

Ooh thanks for that Calista, the kids' rooms at our new house are all 180cm long and I was panicking at the Argos ones being only 160cm.
I've decided to invest in paying someone to come and put up shelves and blinds properly this time. I'm usually pretty good at flatpack but I've never managed to get a roller blind right while DH hates shelves and refuses to do them.
