A little favour to ask...

Please please don't think I am doing anything here that is anything like any past threads that involved trying to poach Mners into rivals sites...

But the favour is this. For years I have been involved is a very small little online Community called BabyBaby UK.. it is completely Unlike MN in Every Way and could never compete in a million years.. but we have had fewer and fewer hits in recent months and was wondering if some of you might be interested in taking a look.. \link{http://www.babybabyuk.com/forums/index.php\BabyBabyUK} because we are starting to think that maybe we are flogging a dead horse. A few of us have put a lot into this site over the years and we do think it has something to offer, especially for posters that don't enjoy being pounced on (even in a friendly way! :)) by a lot of posters on a site with LOADS of hits (like MN).. and although we never aimed to be anything more than a small friendly community, it's getting to the stage where we are wondering if we should call it a day.

It's never going to be a site that you would suddenly want to use INSTEAD of MN (perish the though! Shock :)) but if people would take look, maybe consider registering, and looking in occasionally, we would be very grateful. And if not.. thanks for reading. And please don't go ballastic anyone and say I am being underhand and out of order Grin.. because I'm really not.

SJ x

email all the registered members with a let's all get online together day, ask them to invite friends and then start some interesting threads

have a competition for the number whatever post

bubblerock · 18/03/2006 19:59

SJ, I don't personally have a problem with you posting about another site and I don't think MN Towers will either, I do think, though, that you should have put it in the small business ads section, I have a business and have paid for it to be in small business ads even though it is also running at a loss and I know other MNetters advertise on there with websites etc..

It would then be up to MN Towers whether the advert could be posted or not and like I said, I really don't think they would be worried about the competition. Smile

Good luck, I hope the site picks up. Smile

sleepyjess, I do think it's a good idea to contact the mumsnet team direct before asking for advice on your site, just so they know and will agree to you asking for opinions about it. If you haven't done it already I'd do it now.

Some time ago, there was a problem here with a regular poster starting a rival site, after asking for advice on various aspects of setting up the sitek and then apparently, via their emails, gettig mumsnet posters to register.

I think the mumsnet team has a very tolerant attitude towards other sites, but I think you should keep them in the loop to be on the safe side.

zippitippitoes · 18/03/2006 20:08

just to clarify I meant email registered members of that site not members of mumsnet!

Will email MN now.
