We have an easter bunny that visits our house. DD2 (4) believes me but DD2 (6) is starting to think I'm completely off my head!! Grin

I told her that it has myxomatosis and we had to put it out of its misery, and that chocolate is bad for her anyway. Easter is all about Jesus and I intend staging a real life crucifixion using dh to illustrate the point and then seeing if he comes back to life after 3 days, if not then I suppose we'll just have to spend the insurance money, ah well!

I told them last year there was an easter bunny. The year before when ds was at nursery, he came home crying as he had got confused with the whole Easter story and he thought that Jesus was killed with a hot cross bun Grin. He still refuses to eat them!!

Tommy · 17/03/2006 13:23

I really can't abide the Easter Bunny thing.
The DSs get an easter egg from us and several from lots of other people.
In our house, Easter is about Jesus rising from the dead - call me old fashioned but there you go!

Rhubarb · 17/03/2006 13:27

EXACTLY what I said tommy!

Tommy · 17/03/2006 13:31

great minds Grin
I have a small problem about easter in that my MIL would like us to visit her on the day before and I know she will do eastery things like eggs and stuff but I don't do that until the Sunday. Have already tld her that we are busy until Easter Monday this year and we'd be very happy to visit them then - I'm sure she thinks I'm crazy and a bit of a religious nut... Grin

Rhubarb · 17/03/2006 13:33

Dh thinks I am too, but I think he's just a little nervous about the 'highlight' on Good Friday!

Tommy · 17/03/2006 13:35
Grin DS1 is very excited about it all
Rhubarb · 17/03/2006 13:37

Believe me, so am I! Grin

My kids are so funny, we muck about saying the easter bunny comes and puts loads of egss around the garden, and they look at us as if we are bonkers :) These are the same children that delighted in saying V V LOUDLY at disneyland, Oh it's just a man in a costume at all the people waiting in queues for Mickey Mouse or whatever!!!

They are 5 and 7!!

SPARKLER1 · 17/03/2006 13:48

LOL! Crunchie

nothing Blush We don't really do easter!

donnie · 17/03/2006 14:00

our dd1 ( 4 yrs) knows the Easter story although obviously the whole death/resurrection element is a bit confusing for her to say the least! we try to emphasise the happy aspect of Jesus rising again though and don't dwell on the death. We go to church and I dare say she'll get too much chocolate as well!
There are some very nice children's bibles and religious story books which simplify things too,Usborne do good ones as do Dorling Kindersley.

cupcakes · 17/03/2006 14:01

Easter Bunny here. Plus a bit of chat about Jesus. That sounds very flippant but because we don't go to church it's never been a big discussion point in our house. But now that ds is at school he does a certain amount of bible stories in assembly so is quite curious about it all.

Kelly1978 · 17/03/2006 14:03

Oh no, I've jsut realised why dd came home the other day confused again. Something about only one god. Poor dd! Grin I'd forgotten they would be doing the whole crucifiction stuff at school. Bet they ddin't mention holi though. Angry

Blu · 17/03/2006 14:47

I will be doing my very best to downplay the eligious and crucifixion aspect of April 14th, as last year, DS became unhealthily interetsed in the gruesomeness of it all (under the influence of an enthusiastic nursery teacher), and spent the rest of the year threatening his adversaries with 'I'll nail you to a tree!'.

I will also be struggling with his schools demand that we make an easter hat.

donnie · 17/03/2006 14:54

yes, the gory aspect of it can be a problem....our dd quite likes it too!

blueteddy · 17/03/2006 14:54

Oh, the joy of the blimmin easter bonnet!
I have the added disadvantage of having to make 2 - 1 for DS & 1 for myself!Blush
The joy of working in a primary school! It really is time that I found myself a nice little office job!!

PandaG · 17/03/2006 16:13

Emphasis in Jesus dying and rising again here too, but quite happy for plenty of chocolate and fun - might do egg rolling and egg decorating on the Easter Monday
