Now I don't want to agrue with any one about body piercing, just need some advice. I had my belly pierced 10 years ago, never had a problem with it, but in the last week I have caught it on jumpers and t-shirts, also DH caught it when he stuck his hand up my top Angry, I did change the bar but it started to make me itch so removed it and put in my normal one. I got up this morning and couldn't bend because the pain. I have cleaned it with cool boiled salt water and put in a ring (easier to keep clean) Its now red and sore :( I don't want to remove it if possible, what can I do?

I would have it swabbed, as sounds like an infection

salt water is the best thing to use apparently. mine went like yours a little while ago.

just keep the ring in and move it around every now and again so if theres any gunk or stuff inside it releases it. (if that makes sense)

id prob just stick to salt water, or the savlon spray if you have it. that usually helps.mine took about a week to be back to normal i.e no pain or anything

hth

have always used salt water to clean my piercings (I'm allergic to the stuff they give you) So putting in a ring was the right thing to do SM??

well i have peircings myself but im no expert so i cant be 100% sure. just going by my own previous experience.

the ring is easier as you can move it around more as where a bar is in one place. the ring should be easier as you can wiggle it every now and then and any gunk inside (if any) thats on the ring, when you move it you can clean it whilst the ring is in thus keeping it clean but not having to take the bar out every time

does this make sense? lol

i found that rings irritated me more, as they are generally more curved than a bar. I used a extra long bar that I could move up and down to clean it, and squeezed out any gunk (Yuck!) Salt water should be fine though. Sudocreme is antiseptic - you could always try that if you have some, and it will prob help sooth it a bit.

my kids are a bit big for sudocream now :):) I will just keep cleaning it, I nearly passed out having it done at 17, so I don't want to have to have it redone....

My advice? Don't

I think the ring is actually worse if you keep catching it anyway, I used to have a ring and it actually tore my skin - that was 5 years ago and I still have the scar.
Keep cleaning it, and try to let the air get to it iyswim. If it is still really sore after a couple of days, I would get it checked.
Mine was like that for a few months, but it eventually settled down - don't have it now though as I took it out when pregnant.
HTH!! Smile

mm, it does bloody hurt getting it done. I've had mine done twice. It sort of grew out when I was pg with my first, and left a nasty scar, so I had it redone again after having my second (didn't plan ne mroe), and then had to take it out for my third pg. I miss it, but I don't have the flat stomach for it ne more. Sad
