something to raise the head end of the bed. the OT mentioned a device that will sit under our natress so the whole head of the bed can be raised.

1st thing, i dont sleep well with my head raised.

2nd thing, i paid a bloomin fortune for the bed, i dont want it ruined by the matress being folded into a more upright position.

3rd, i feel like a cow for saying it.

can he not have something that just goes under his pillows on his side?

misdee · 14/03/2006 20:40

he has tried one out and idnt get one with it. he is going to try another one next visit home.

can he sleep in a different place to you?

can you get a different mattress from the OT/hospital (say yours won't bend!) and save the good one until later?

you're not a cow - just human. better to say how you feel than store it up for later. and where better to say it than here!

i was going to move into the back room and peter was going to have a hospital bed in one of the front bedrooms. but he wants to sleep in the same bed as me. i have problems sleeping most of the time anyway, and i think i will have problems adjusting to the movement and noise of his machine as well. I made a choice to buy the expensive bed and matress in the hope i;d be able to sleep better, and it has helped, so i dont want it ruined as i cant afford to replace it. its a kingsize mattress as well.

You need to sleep properly - you're the one who needs sleep for everyone else. They must have more stuff to try - what about wedges or those metal things they use in the hospital?

misdee · 14/03/2006 22:45

thats what we are going to try on the next trip home.

no-one is folding my mattress.

So pleased he's having a trip home by the way.

Nbg · 14/03/2006 22:56

What you need is one of those double beds that splits slightly down the middle so that you can each have the mattress as you like. You can have yours flat and Peter can have his tilted.

Don't have a clue how much they are though.

zippy539 · 14/03/2006 23:07

Or two single mattresses on the bed just as a short term measure?

JanH · 14/03/2006 23:19

That's a good idea, ztt - misdee, is there anywhere you could store the king-size mattress, and put 2 single ones on instead?

JanH · 14/03/2006 23:20

Also with 2 separate mattresses you wouldn't disturb each other so much.

misdee · 14/03/2006 23:21

not sure tbh. could be worth a go. but will need to get 2 singles then, dont have any spare.

Take them off the kids' beds - they can sleep on the floor Grin

Worth getting 2 new ones to spare your king-size one - they don't have to be expensive, as a short-term measure. There is a bed shop near here that sells odd mattresses (I mean not matching, not peculiar!) for not a lot.

misdee · 14/03/2006 23:26

theres one near herev as well, dreamzzzz or soemthing.

How about one of \link{http://www.mobilitysmart.cc/multiway-wedge-cushion-p-539.html\these?} They are more comfortable than the traditional canvas and metal supports.
