How long should you wait till you report a seller on ebay?

I bought an item a week last Saturday.
Sent an email to the seller the following saturday (the one just gone) and one yesterday.

I'll send her another saying I will report if I hear nothing but how long should I wait.

What is normal etiquette for this kind of thing?

Have you had a look at the sellers rating and see if delay is a common thing with this particular seller? I was in the same position as you a while back and when i checked, it seems it was a common occurence and so i waited a bit longer and sure enough , the item did arrive.

set up a dispute - she'll soon respond

Nbg · 14/03/2006 17:32

Yes this was the other thing.

Their rating is 100% and it's comments like quick delivery etc so it seems pretty bad that I'll have to report them.

Do you think it's been long enough JT?

Did the seller send you an invoice? Could be that something has happened like illness or have gone on holiday and simply forgot.

Well it was Buy it now, so I had confirmation of payment from Paypal.

I did wonder about something like that but surely they would check and see what they has sold?

yes - I waited and waited on someone (I was the seller) and they only responded when I set up a dispute. I emailed telling them I was going to do it but didn't want to but they still didn't contact me until I made it formal.

Be nice in your messages though, I was very 'understanding' of their problems. That way you shouldn't get negative feedback.

Have you paid, or are you trying to contact her in order to pay?

If she's got your money then I would email her and give her a deadline, and let her know that if she hasn't at least contacted you by that time, you would report her to ebay. If you paid by paypal you should be able to get your money back.

sorry, I must learn to type faster (or think faster Grin )

Kelly1978 · 14/03/2006 17:42

have you emailed her directly through ebay? so she is def gettign your messages?

Nbg · 14/03/2006 17:51

Yep e-mailed through ebay.

I think I'll email again then telling her I'll set up a dispute if I don't hear anything by Thursday. That gives her 2 days.

I wouldn't mind but it's only for a pack of maternity pants!

It's the principle though.

Nbg - any luck yet?

Hi just seen this thread. I am pretty sure you only have 30 days to set up a dispute - don't let the seller delay or stall you so you are out of time. I have only had to open 1 dispute and the seller replied the same day after ignoring me for 3 weeks. Said she hadn't received my emails but I knew she had as had confirmations! Best of luck. Don't let it put you off ebay you can get some great bargains but check web for products as can be cheaper. I only looked at this side because I'm looking for info re school PTA's - amazing how you can get side tracked!.
