Exercise for the very lazy ....

and I mean lazy! Really need to tone up and get rid of what can only be described as a pot-belly (the rest of me is relatively thin - which makes it look even worse).

What can I do which will work and will show results relatively soon, simply so as I don't get discouraged and give up. Gym isn't an option as I can't commit to getting out in the evenings - so something for home ... dvd/video, weights, sit-ups (although could bearly lift my shoulders off the floor at the moment Blush), exercise ball? Any recommendations please?

Thanks!

Hi,

I found a Pilates class really helpful in the stomach area. The only problem is my teacher is a Body Control Pilates teacher, and I think they might be a bit precious about producing videos - they want the teacher to be able to see the students.

dance around to music as you are tidying up
and give those hips, arms, arse and legs a good shake

I do 100 sit ups whilst watching The Wright Stuff most mornings. Only takes 10 minutes but I can't say it has made a huge difference but at least it makes me feel like I've done something.

Hats off to you Carmenere doing 100 sit-ups each night - I'm not joking when I say I'd be pushed to do 10! Maybe that's where I should start - I'm sure it must help.

Pilates would be great but our nearest class is literally a 60 mile drive each way!!!!! And general dancing around sounds like more than I do at the moment so worth a try too DSW.

Thanks for these ideas - and keep them coming! Grin

Hula hooping is good for the middle and you can do it whilst watching the telly. Ten minutes a couple of times a day would help. Don't do what I did and buy one with a rattly thing in it. It drove me nuts!

What about a slendertone - they are great (my sister uses one)and you cant get much lazier that that!!

Millie1 · 13/03/2006 13:39

Hadn't thought of hula-hooping! Had thought of slendertone - does it really help? Also, has anyone tried toning tables?

I guess I've 2 needs - get fit (might try cycling when evenings get longer) and the big problem of my post-baby tummy!

walk everywhere, be late for everything, you'll then be forced to walk quickly. Works for me!

saadia · 13/03/2006 14:25

we have an exercise bike which I sometimes use in manic bursts, plan on doing so today. But the best thing for me is walking, it helped me to lose a lot of the weight after ds1 was born but now with ds2 in buggy and ds1 walking I can't do it so much.
