SIL has given birth to a baby girl, she already has a boy.
We are going to visit them at the weekend I am trying to decide what gift to buy.
I already have a nice shawl with baby's details embroidered on but am stuck for something else. Clothes will probably be the next option.
What gifts did people buy you/or baby that you found most beneficial?
TIA

Wow - thanks for your response guys. Some lovely ideas here. I definitely love the wicker basket full of goodies one. I think I'll be be doing that one. Should be able to pick up the basket in a cheap shop in town - buy the babystuff/chocolate for mum anywhere. I have a huge roll of cellophane at home that I can wrap it with and tie it off with curling ribbon.
Thanks. Smile Smile xx

Oh yes I got beautiful white roses fabulously arranged and very very tasteful from my Mum - they were waiting on my doorstep when we came home from the hospital Smile

One of my good friends came round when ds1 was already a few weeks old, cooked a meal for us and left several tubs more food in our freezer. That was the best present by far.

YSL Touche Eclat and a bottle of Bombay Sapphire! I love White Company baby bath robes too.

Strangely it was a mobile with lots of bees. We thought, what a strange gift for a newborn. But I hung it up over the settee where I fed her and within a few days I could see she was trying to focus on it. I would agitate it a little whenever we went to that chair. She adored it, we have fantastic video of her trying to bat the bees and giggling.

box of chocolates, disposable camera and nice photo album. (all given by the same person).

I cried when a good friend was the first person to give ME something after dd's birth. So I think something for SIL would be nice, bath stuff, a book, wine.
