I have ordered all my Christmas shopping with tesco on line and am very proud of myself!
However, I am, not going to be in when the stuff is delivered, but my 15 year old dd will be, my question is, will they leave the shopping with her as there is booze in the order, or will it have to be left with someone over 18?
Ta

That would never have occured to me - but you may have a point. You could call the main Tesco home shopping cust services in Dundee - 08457 225533. Or just ring your local Tesco and ask for the home shopping department - someone on there should know (I stress "SHOULD" )

I'd call the helpline and ask. At least then you'll know one way or the other.

If they say no, perhaps you could ask a neighbour to sign for you.

I would guess that yes she would have to be 18, but you never know! Just thinking would a van driver really know to ask if your dd was 18? Does she look older, most girls do dont they. Mind you when I was heavily pregnant with my first I went into the off-license for a bottle of wine (not for myself, ok maybe 1 glass) and was asked for my ID - I was dead chuffed. Mind you she may really have been disgusted that I was pregnant and buying wine......

Bugger!
Just phoned them and it has to be an 18 year old.
If none of the neighbours are in I'll just have to tell her to get some make up on!

I know Sainsburys will let you leave with a neighbour if you're out (we had to run out in and get an emergency doc's appt for ds once and left a note on the door for the delivery man) - I'd assume Tescos will let you do the same?

GeorginaA · 17/12/2003 14:40

(I did specify the neighbour in the phone call and on the note though)

hollybet, on my first order, I had to show the delivery driver my credit card, and he checked my signiture, before he bought my order up to the flat. By law you must be 18 to buy alcohol, and the actual sale of goods takes place when you sign for the invoice/order. They would be breaking the law, if you have time, change your delivery slot with them, and make sure you are at home. Sorry..........

oh! wish I could but its while I am seeing Lord of the Rings on Tuesday afternoon and there are no slots left now for Christmas.
This is going to turn out to be too complicated.
