I had one called "funny monster",he lived under the spare room bed and had to have a place laid at the table every day.I think he was "around" for about a year, then oneday my Mum asked where he wasand I said "he's gone away"....
Having now watched "Drop Dead Fred" I wonder if I had him because I was unhappy....probably not, just weird! Grin

I started a thread on this a while back. My DD had one, and now has several. Titaty, Parfy (who are boys) and a couple of girls Polly and Mary who crop up once in a while. The boys are the regulars. She talks about them less than she used to, but they are still part of life here ATM. Sometimes she IS them, sometimes they are just along for the ride. When she's pretending to be one of them, she talks in a funny deeper voice!

She is a happy girl with lots of friends. Just one of those strange childhood things. I think she used to use them to work out ideas and have conversations with herself.

I had mice. They used to live in the bathroom and talk to me when I was hiding in there.

I also used to talk to the mirror a lot.
Ds is a bit young yet, but I'll keep MN posted on itGrin

Whizzz · 09/03/2006 20:55

Does MN count ??? Grin

chicagomum · 09/03/2006 20:57

DD has on called squeaky (a mouse as well). He/she (gender changes periodically) is around sometimes and is heavily invovled in family life then not mentioned for a while. When he is mentioned again he has just come back from holiday (this creature has had several exotic holidays since it came into existence less than a year ago). DD is 4 btw.

giraffeski · 09/03/2006 21:05

Giraffelet(3)has one called 'Little Millie' and also a minature invisible crocodile and a hippo which she sometimes carries around and hands to me when they get too heavy.

zephyrcat · 09/03/2006 21:08

DD has a horse called Bullseye. he/she (changes from day to day!) goes most places with us and is a real pain because he/she has a tendancy to jump off the bus when the doors open and then has to run to catch up at the next stop!

lilianna · 09/03/2006 21:13

dd has one. a boy called matchy. shes only 2yrs and 4months and has had this friend for 2months now.
It makes her happy so i don't see a problem with it.
(although ds1 aged 3yrs 4 months sits there and laughs at her when she has this friend).

sarahhal · 09/03/2006 21:28

Anyone read " If you could see me now"? Trashy novel but brings a whole different light to imaginary friends!! ( they're not really imaginary!!!!)

FrannyandZooey · 09/03/2006 21:38

Ds has a friend called Von. He arrived when he was about 2.4 and was around a lot until recently when he transferred his attentions to a wooden puppet called Hedge. The highlight of his visits for me was one occasion where I had to play hide and seek with ds while Von tried to find us. We stood in that cupboard for about 10 &^*$ing minutes; Von was the crappest seeker I have ever known Shock

Tanzie · 09/03/2006 22:02

I had one that was a sort of dog called Oogey Poogey and two others which were small spaniels called Limp and Lacquer. No idea why and I don't even like dogs! Oh and there was a girl called Josephine as well, I think.

Only child...no friends...

At various times we've had the entire cast of cbeebies and Wallace and Grommit living with us. The most persistent, however, is a naughty boy by the name of Norman who gets blamed for all deliberate acts of naughtiness. I threatened to pack Norman's bags and send him home to his mummy the other day. Wink This morning she announced that 'Norman is being nice now because Sweta (her best friend in real life) doesn't like him when he's naughty.'

Hulababy · 10/03/2006 10:47

DD has two imaginary friends, called Cotcha and Bella. She knows they are not real, but still has them She is nearly 4yo and they've been around for at least a year now, possibly nearer 2 years.

NomDePlume · 10/03/2006 10:51

I did, he was a boy of around 5 called Freddy who lived in the loft/attic of our house with his Mum, Dad and Granny. We had a really creaky loft (house was only about 50 years old though) and I used to pretend that the creaks were Freddy's granny in her rocking chair Grin. I really, truly believed I could see him. My Mum played along too. DD so far, at 3.5 doesn't have an imaginary friend.

Some say that kids are very sensitive to 'spirits' and may well be seeing them and making them into imaginary friends. Don't know whether I really believe that, but I could swear I used to see Freddy, clear as day.

dizzymummy · 10/03/2006 11:14

My DD had loads when she was smaller, but there was one who used to freak me out a bit tbh. When she first started to speak she used to point at nothing and say lady!.

when she got a bit older I heard her chatting away to herself one evening (she was in her room with the lights off) when I went in and asked her who she was talking to she said it was the lady & this lady was her other mummy and her name was Michelle (was really spooked!) she grew out of though doesn't mention any imaginary friends now!

waterfalls · 10/03/2006 11:25

Yes, ds (age 5) has one, with the same name as himself, apparently he is very well behaved and very funnyGrin
