how on earth do you cope??

I have got a falling apart knights kingdom, falling apart binical fortress or whatever it's called, about 20 deconstructeed bionicals and 3, 000, 000, 000, 000 pieces of the aformentioned stuff strewn all over.

Aarrrrrrrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Apart from the fact they've got far too much stuff, and apart from chucking the whole bloody lot out, htf are you supposed to keep this stuff in order? esp with a 2 yr old who loves taking it apart?

ours is totally out of control and all lobbed into a large storage crate

Marina · 09/03/2006 15:16

Make the sorting into a game in itself (worth a try ernest) by getting one of those crate racks with 9 or so crates on a slant. We have games where the most accurate hurling of bionicles gets a chocolate button.

WideWebWitch · 09/03/2006 15:18

I chuck bionicles. You can't make them with missing pieces so I reckon they're useless and make an executive decision. Knex is hardly ever used, lego is in a lego box and we don't have playmobil, sympathy.

WWW bionicle pieces are interchangeable aren't they? we often have hybrid ones roaming around this house

Bugsy2 · 09/03/2006 15:26

I have a panic attack if it is not all sorted into the right storage boxes at the end of each day. Big items, which can't easily be deconstructed go on top of playroom storage units.
Get a whole load of big clear boxes or storage units (I got mine from an under £5 shop & Argos have got loads of this sort of thing) and then the children can easily get at & see what they want & its easy to put away too.

ernest · 09/03/2006 15:34

we've got a lego box & a bionical box, but obviously the floor is easier........

For lego castle etc owners - it took us a whole bloody day to build it - and about 10 minutes for ds2 to reduce it to a pile of rubble. Short of gluing these constructions together how do you do it? Are we the most inept lego owners or what. There's 2 mysterious black bits on the bathroom floor.................................................. Maybe I should just move and leave 'em to it.

The playmobil took me 3 hours to do and everytime it gets mashed, it still takes me ages to work out where it goes.
Lego fire towers and boats all took hours as well.
I keep all the instruction manuals (because I am a control freak) and I can be persuaded to make them again - but only if asked very nicely & if I've got nothing better to do than sit on the playroom floor & make Lego! It was easier in the olden days when you just got a big box of blocks & you made your own creations.

Kaz33 · 09/03/2006 16:03

I have a playmobil aeroplane and not impressed, the darn thing keeps falling apart under the stress of a 4 and 2 year old. At least with lego it is meant to fall apart and be remade.

tortoiseshell · 09/03/2006 16:53

Hate anything like this. Like lego, hate playmobil - have as little as possible!

oceanwave · 09/03/2006 18:00

Micro machines...hmmm...all fits together in its own funky little lorry thing, nice, tidy...except IT DOESN'T. It wont close properly & everytime you pick it up with the handle, it all falls apart.. aaarrrggghhh...a 46 year old beaten by a 3yr olds toy...nuff said.

roisin · 09/03/2006 18:34

Blush I'm completely anal - I love sorting out K'nex - there are relatively few different sorts of pieces, and we have sets of divided boxes to store it all in regimented fashion!

I'm shocked at you WWW chucking bionicles! With Bionicles - and everything else Lego - dss make the 'original' once, and then put it all in the box and make their own fantastic creations.

I haven't found the Lego storage solution, and we have tons of the stuff. It does drive me crazy at times, but the boys love it, so I try and be relaxed about it; and the boys do tidy it all up when I insist.

We don't have playmobil, or 2 yr-olds though, which makes it easier.
