no idea, would he like to be surprised? I suppose its a bit different for a man, I would hate it, not having time to sort out what to wear!
when are you planning to do it?

CountessDracula · 15/12/2003 22:58

yoko, don't know the answer but sounds risky to me! I wouldn't want to be put on the spot and have no say in my own wedding!

samACon · 15/12/2003 23:37

Me and DH got married in a registry office, I arranged it all, he didn't step foot in there until the wedding day. I'm reasonably sure that you could do it all without DP knowing if you're totally sure that you will get the right reaction. This is wonderfully romantic though so good luck and have fun planning it!!

in the midlands you both have to go and register your bands about a month before - and yes you both have to be there

ooh, thanx for all your replies.my dp would be delighted to marry me(of course),hes asked me every year weve been together,my reply has always been"when im thin enough for photos".anyway, its leap year next year,so i thought,im never gonna be thin enough for photos and h is lovly to me and ds,so why not.SamAcon, where do you live?im in london?can you tell me how you went about it all, thank you.

i agreee with what fairydust said...
we both had to go a month before

carolthatcher2003 · 22/12/2003 21:46

Im sure you must be able to do this - have you tried the registry office?

If you went with all the paperwork there, you could just be there on his behalf, and who can honestly say they haven't forged their DP's signature before?

This is a lovely idea - wish my DP would do it.

marsup · 22/12/2003 22:13

No, I think both of you have to go in to lodge a declaration of intention some time beforehand (16 working days from memory?), and each person has to sign it.

Blimey! Not wishing to cast *any& doubts on your relationship, that might be a bit riskey. You both have to fill in the paperwork, as the Banns have to be on public display prior to the wedding.
