I have called the agents for all 4.

No.1 has a decked courtyard and parking at the back. We only want 3 beds so 4 is a bonus.

No.2 used to be a rented property but has been done up to sell. New carpets throughout, new bathroom, new kitchen. No parking though.

No.3 Has the garden, well paving slabs but dh has said that he would pull them up and lawn it we would also put in new bathroom, couldn't cope without a bath. Plus it has a garage at the back, is very central and there is a similar house round the corner at £175k!

No.4 Is my kind of thing, smaller version of No.1 but no parking, only a yard. Although it is central and a good price.

Dh found out today that No.2 used to be an old council estate so not a great area and not so good schools around either.

if similar properties are going for £30k higher then doesn't that worry you????

Nbg · 07/03/2006 21:57

No

The reason it's cheaper is because it needs some modernising. I think the person/people that lived here have died. It looks like an older persons houseand the agents are doing the viewings.

No. 4

No.2/3 NO. Soul-less and ugly.

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 07/03/2006 22:18

Love the kitchen in number 1

No thoughts really about number 2 - its ok.

3 looks ok but the shape of the bay window might cause probs furniture wise and that would make the room smaller/

4 looks small.

I would go with number 2 i think because of the space. But I think it needs more work doing to it than number 1.

Nbg · 07/03/2006 22:22

Just spoke to dh and we maybe going up on Thursday Grin

He'll have to carry me away from there.

No 1 - think this has quite a bit of character but not really sure about that inglenook fireplace. Kind of takes over the room?

No 2 - probably a good, solid family home but leaves me cold.

No 3 - spookily like no 2. Who'd have thought it?

No 4 - original tiled floor in sitting room? Lots of character but looks quite small. Always the way, eh?

MrsSpoon · 13/03/2006 22:35

Nbg, did you go and see the house?

GDG · 13/03/2006 22:42

Absolutey no to number 2/3 for me because it's modern and characterless.

Number 4 looks as though it could be lovely but it's small.

Number 1 doesn't have the impact of number 4 from the outside, but it looks bigger on the inside.

So, superficially, without knowing room sizes of 1 and without knowing the areas - I think I'd go for 1.

joash · 13/03/2006 22:44

4 is nice. I would be a definate NO..NO - horrible fake stone cladding stuff - YUCK!!!!

joash · 13/03/2006 22:45

that should be number 1 would be a definate NO...NO

GDG · 13/03/2006 22:46

Aha - the new number 3 looks like a good opportunity. It looks a decent size and you could do a lot to it over time to get a good return when you move on.

edodgy · 13/03/2006 22:47

I like no.4 but a bit small , no.3 is the best bet I reckon but you'll need to sort out the fireplace IMHO.

edodgy · 13/03/2006 22:50

Changed my mind I like no.1 the best.

rummum · 13/03/2006 22:56

I like number 4 best... why do they put the room sizes in bloody metres... grrrr
I loved the way the sun shone through the bedroom window...
they're a lot cheaper than round here...

fishie · 13/03/2006 23:00

like no 4, lovely features, or a fab photographer. but kirsty always says look you could knock down a wall here and build a massive extension etc etc.... is there potential for that stuff in any of them?

chonky · 13/03/2006 23:05

going on gut feel (haven't looked at sensible things like room sizes) I like no. 4 best

Tutter · 14/03/2006 13:54

No.4.

Am a little distressed by bargaineous prices of houses oop North. Why oh why did I leave the Peoples Republic of South Yorkshire to live in Surrey...??

Tinker · 14/03/2006 13:56

Not read rest of trhead but No 4, deffo.

LIZS · 14/03/2006 14:10

4 3(seems spacious and you could probably redo bathroom) 1 2

sarahhal · 14/03/2006 14:22

Number 1 NBG!! Number 4 looks full of character but it's just off the high street in Northallerton isn't it?

Romanby's a nice village isn't it? When are you hoping to move? We used to live in Thirsk which was pretty near to Northallerton.

littlemissbossy · 14/03/2006 14:29

Number 3 definately has the most potential - would have thought this would be snapped up, so be quick if you're interested!!!

noddyholder · 14/03/2006 14:30

I like the new number 3 and also 4. 3 could be modernised and would be really nice Putting a bath in is easy enough
