I booked tickets to see Elton John in July, before christmas. No tickets have arrived but I have just phoned them and the recorded message said that tickets can arrive up to seven days before the event. The money is on the credit card bill.
Has anyone booked with them before and did you get your tickets as late as this?

We used them before and the tickets arrived earlier. I hope they haven't been lost.

I think this is quite normal, though would be drumming my fingers if I had to wait until a week before. I bet they arrive sooner. Nothing to worry about, I'm sure.

Sparkler,

I used to work for Ticketmaster in their customer services department and I can explain it to you. The tickets you have bought are what they call Hard Tickets (in ticket jargon - its like another language!) Basically what that means is that the tickets are speically printed by the promoter for the event. Often they have pictures of the artist on them and security hollogrammes etc.

The other type of tickets are Soft Tickets. These are tickets that the agency can print up on the promoter's behalf, your usual theatre tickets and and ticket printed on a computor come under this bracket. These kind of tickets are posted straight away.

The difference with Hard Tickets (your ones) is that the promoter probably hasn't even designed or printed them yet. The event promoter (not the ticket agency) sets the date the tickets will go onsale. They then supply ticket agencies theri allocated tickets when they are ready and the tickets are then posted out to the customers.

As soon as they get them in they will send them, by recorded delivery so they can track then should they go astray. The seven days thing is the latest you should recieve them, obviously they should arrive far earlier!

Do remember that becasue these are Hard Tickets if you loose them thats it thier lost. Whereas the other kind of tickets can be re-preinted. So when they arrive keep them in a safe place.

If your really worried then call their customer services dept and ask them to write a letter to you confirming your booking, to set your mind at ease. I have occasionally done this for customers in the past. Such a letter would not give you admittance to any event though.

Hope that helps. Don't worry they are a really reputable company.

Last time I went to see Robbie (not via Ticetmaster) they were these specially printed tickets, are hard tikcets, and they came about 10 days before the concert. The Oasis ones we had came about 6 days before the concert and I was very worried!

Waiting for RW again, for the September concert.

Thanks Sharklet - that's really useful to know.

Always use ticketmaster. Sometimes tickets have turned up months in advance and at other times they turn up the week before. I had one set not turn up so email 5 days before event and they sent an authorisation code and had tickets reprinted for me to collect at the event and show proof of address and my credit card I had used.

sharklet · 06/03/2006 22:22

No worries - I know how worrying it can be! I used to repeat the same info day in day out so its almost automatic these days Wink

SPARKLER1 · 06/03/2006 22:23

They should mention it on the recorded message really - would save them a few million phone calls too.

The amount of times we've told them that - aparently its all too longwinded for them to explain in full. Grrrr!

Just remember not to loose them when they do arrive becasue they won't be able to reprint them!

Enjoy the concertSmile
