DH has a bee in his bonnet about the housework - anyone want to join me.........

in a housework blitz over the next 2 1/2 days?? Mainly in the afternoons (because he's at home in the mornings and I don't want him to see me doing it?).

Planning on starting in the bathroom today, wash the tiles down, mop the floor, get the washing out of the way.

Then hopefully wash kitchen floor (next to bathroom so makes sense to do both together), clean the worktops and any other stuff that glaringly needs doing.

If time make a start on the lounge/dining room - hoover, polish etc etc today.

Then tomorrow, I'll tackle upstairs - change all the sheets, clean our bedroom, sort the boys room.

Wednesday morning, sort this room - spare room/bedroom/offce/dumping zone.

if he has a bee in his bonnet .. why isn't he doing it in the mornings when he's at home ????

what you doing QOQ??? Shock

GDG · 06/03/2006 11:55

If he's home in the mornings tell him to get off his arse and do it himself if he's complaining!! Cheeky git!

Twiglett · 06/03/2006 11:55

snap ... snurk Grin

prettybird · 06/03/2006 11:55

Why don't you want him to see you doing it?

Otherwise, he'll get the idea that fairies do it, or that it takes so little time, you of course are the right person to do it, as you only work part time! Wink

SorenLorensen · 06/03/2006 11:57

He is criticising the state of the house, I take it?

OK, we can't have that, I'll help you out with a schedule...

First... take your mop
Second...stick it up his @rse Grin

my dh is real mardy on this subject due to him working in some rigth digusting pig stys but if im ill or not up to it i leave it and if he do nt like it tough or he does it himself with lots of banging about at the end of the day you both live there and its no ones job exclusively must say i love spending two whole days cleaning every couple of weeks rather than a little bit everyday found i got a bit dont put that there move that cup get a coaster and my fave one was as my dh was getting out the tub spraying him with the bath foam he told at that point to put the cloth down and step away Blush

Mercy · 06/03/2006 11:58

unhelpful dhs must see you doing the housework

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 06/03/2006 12:01

no I've tried this in the past doing it in front of him, and it doesn't work. I've found it makes more of an impact if I do it while he's at work, as he knows I've got DS1 to pick up from school, dinner cook and their evening routine to do while he's out. In the morning while he's there I've got the 'excuse' of having him looking after DS1. When he comes home and finds all the stuff done - and me flaked in a chair it 'hits' him harder as he knows I've had to 'fight' round the boys to do it.

Trust me it's no good doing most of it when he can't see it being done.

Save at least something to do when he is around so that he doesn't get the impression that a little moaning and wifey gets off her arse and gets it done "cos it doesn't take long does it ?"

I try and take my "down time" when dh is out of the house but try and make sure I'm doing something work wise when he gets home. My ear is attuned for his diesel car engine pulling up.

I have lately blown a toilet fairy fuse however over skidmarks in the toilets. Why can't he use the bloody loo brush on them before they set !

GDG · 06/03/2006 12:02

I would not stand for this QoQ - does he do any housework?!

GDG · 06/03/2006 12:03

Me too Normsnockers - I watch Deal or no Deal with a brew at 4.15 then run round like loon afterwards! No point having it all spick and span before he gets in!!

mumfor1standfinaltime · 06/03/2006 12:05

Normsnockers - LOL at skid marks. Havent you ever noticed the toilet fairy? She hides inside the empty loo roll still on the loo roll holder...Smile

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 06/03/2006 12:06

Honestly - we've had this in the past. If I do it when he's there it makes little, or no, impact at all. He's done the evening/afternoon routine thing with the boys on his own before and has admitted it can be pretty hard work - especially with dinner to cook too.

He's on of those wierd blokes where reverse pyschology (sp) stuff works best. Come home and find it spotless and he notices more. He's liable to spend the morning engrossed in something anyhow - and simply won't notice me doing it

Plus I'm cr*p in the mornings - that's why night work suits me down to the ground - get to stay up all night "lose" the mornings and then get going LOL.

To give him his due - it is him that cleans the loo - and fits the toilet refill things. And when we're both at home he does most of the childcare related bits.

QoQ - My dh is exactly the same, know where you're coming from. If you do it when he's out you also get the high moral ground by saying 'you could have taken shoes off at the door'.....'why are you pants on the floor after I've worked so hard'....'I changed the bed yesterday and all you do is slobber in your sleep' (or it that just my dh?!). My personal favourite though is do you think I just sit around all day and do nothing (only have to have a good clean up once a month to turn on this one!)

As the house is a hovel and I'm wading through dog fur, toys and dirty clothes....I'll join you, I've started on the bathroom already, oh dear ds just woken up have to have a brew now!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 06/03/2006 12:16

I'll be putting DS2 down for a nap at 1 - so will start on the bathroom then.

Got home from work yesterday to find wet washing still in the machine, the next load was waiting to go in on the floor , dirty nappy on bedroom floor, toys everywhere, washing up in the sink, vegetables and meat waiting for the oven to turn itself on...need I go on?

QOQ, I feel for you!!

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 06/03/2006 12:21

leggy - he doesn't slobber - but he does sweat a lot - so the sheets end up really stinky LOL.

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 06/03/2006 20:16

Well haven't done anything extra yet Blush - but I've got about 1hr until he comes in - should be enough time to blitz the bathroom and kitchen.........shall report back at 9.15 to let you know how much I've got done LOL.
