Nope, DD missed the cut-off date by a couple of days (born 3rd Sept) so another year at home for us!

But good luck.

meeeeeee

ds2 missed it by a few dys last Sept. He is soooo ready

TinyGang · 06/03/2006 11:50

That's how it worked for us too. Missed cut off date by a couple of weeks last Sept. They are now bigger than some of the children that have already started and are firing on 10 cylinders each! I'm flaggingGrin

ds2 is in nursery 2 days and pre-school 2 ams - for his benefit as well as mine Grin

My DD is a June baby & starts in Sept. I am dreading moving her from the private nursery where she is now (3 days per week) ; she adores the place has lots of friends and loves the teachers.

Tommy · 06/03/2006 12:03

DS1 (4 in Jan) can't wait to go (nor can I Grin)
He's mostly exited about taking his lunch to school in a lunch box he can choose completely for himself and wearing a tie....
DS2 starts nursery the same time - what will I do with my self for 2 hours every afternoon?

TinyGang · 06/03/2006 12:03

Aww, I do feel for the younger ones Gingerbear. Wishing her lots of luckSmile

All mine have had the maximum time at home as they're Autumn babies. That has been a good thing all told, but now on the last bit, they're raring to move onwards and upwards and I'm flaking outBlush

DS is more than ready for it - he keeps asking when he can go to "big boy school". His first day will be on his 5th birthday - not sure if he'll think it a birthday treat, or a disappointing way to spend his birthday!

elliott · 06/03/2006 14:42

ds1 starts in september (Nov birthday). He is already in the preschool of the school, but stays home with me on my days off. I asked him the other day if he was looking forward to reception and he said 'yes, because I will see more of A, B and C' (friends who are in reception this year!!). Most disappointed when I explained they would be in year 1. Then brightly said 'maybe I'll see them when I'm in year 1 then!!'

I am not particularly looking forward to it - I'll miss having the time with him - btu it will be good for ds2 to get a bit of time by himself!

Gem13 · 06/03/2006 14:45

DS is a July birthday so he has only just turned 3.5.

He's a big chap but a sleepy young one. He has no idea really about big school and will be going half days until next Easter.

He will be shattered. He can just about cope with 2 mornings at playschool!

saadia · 06/03/2006 15:23

Ds1 starts in Sep. He's already at the school nursery. He doesn't know anything about starting school.

His best friend is going to a different school so I think he will be sad about that.

I'm not looking forward to it. I think he will be a bit lost and I think he's too young.

pooka · 06/03/2006 15:31

When is the cut-off date btw? Is it the first of september (ds was born on the 9th)?

yossa · 06/03/2006 15:41

my ds1 (may baby) starts in september. i have mixed feelings. i work part time (wed, thurs, fri) and will hate the fact that i have to be up and organised 5 days a week instead of the current 3. He goes to nursery 2 days a week at the minute and i am really sad that all his friends are each going to different schools. on a positive note he has a fab nursery at the minute and they are going to collect him from school on the same 2 days and keep him until i finish work so it won't be a complete end to his nursery days. Ds2 is 2 in june so he will move to the nursery where ds1 is at the moment and i will pick them both up from the same place. life will get easier! he is ready for the challenges of school but it will be a massive time of adjustment for us all. my biggest worry personally is that i'm a bit of a scruff on my non working days and can just imagine all the mothers who treat the school gate like a paris catwalk thinking i'm a right pikey. at least i wear a suit to work and on those days look presentable! i know it's a crazy thing to worry about but there's no way i'm getting up at 6am to look fab just to drop him at school. on the positive side it means i will have mon and tues with ds2 and will get to spend some quality time with him.

LunarSea · 06/03/2006 15:55

pooka - birthdays up to and including 31st August 2001 means they'll start reception in September this year (assuming you're in an area which only has one intake a year).

SorenLorensen · 06/03/2006 15:57

Yes, ds2 starts in September. I have mixed feelings about it - part of me is looking forward to a bit more freedom (he is very ready to go) and part of me is sad as that's the end of my 'little people' - I'll have two in school.

Northerner · 06/03/2006 15:59

My ds is 4 in April and starts school in September. If he gets into our first choice school he'll go part time for the first term - 5 mornings a week. Which will be a nightmare on the 3 days I work. But on the other hand I will have 2 mornings a week to myself. Bliss Smile

mummyhill · 06/03/2006 17:10

DD is really excited and I must admit that I am looking forward to not having to rush round like a headless chicken to get her to and from the schools nursey every afternoon. And being able to spend some quality time with ds who will be 1 in sept.
