<<whispers very quietly>> erm, er, who was it who worked on a sexline?

Is it horrible? How much did you earn? I'm looking at datapro services atm and wondering whether to give them a call... I have vague knowledge of tarot cards too and they do a psychic service.... should I call? We're skint, I was even thinking over the option of being a poledancer (seriously.)...

I want to pay off some of our debts, because I think I might end up studying to be something that takes a long time...

then again I don't suppose it would be very good going from sexline worker to child psychologist or something would it! Blush

Please please please don't jump on me like that last thread (I would have archive searched but it's still off!)

i read the thread recently and most people were quite supportive of huggy i thought, even if they didnt agree. only a minority were horrible.

LillyPink · 08/03/2006 13:32

I can't imagine why anyone would get nasty on this thread.

The job options for someone relativly inexperienced in the world of work, with kids, sahm, no transport etc are very limited. (well thats me anyway)

It might seem like an odd choice of jobs if you were childless and able to work, but each to their own.

fastasleep · 08/03/2006 13:34

You're right Lilly. I could go to work at Asda, but the only 24 hour one is two buses away, and being almost 19 I'd earn 4.50 an hour, so I'd have to work two hours just to pay for transport.... and the rest is peanuts!

We need an extra 400 pounds a month at least to pay off our debt in the years I have before DD and DS are at school and I can study..

I wouldn't do it if I could do anything else for the same money!

HB got blasted, not for her thoughts about sex lines, but when it was combined with other personal knowledge that made it difficult to see how she would be able to cope with the work.

Also her partner was against it I seem to remember.

fastasleep · 08/03/2006 14:49

Well everyone knows I'm just one of the class clowns around here! And DH think's it's funny...

No reason to get nasty imo. If you need the money whats the problem. People can be very pompous about things like this. Best of luck Fastasleep, and just imagine you are talking to Matt Damon or some other lovely...Wink Though if you get a brummy accent the first time that might be difficult!!

Detta · 08/03/2006 15:17

I'd think very carefully about it. A friend of mine did this for quite some time, and although she made plenty of cash and it was quite funny at times, mostly it was depressing and somtimes really horrid. For instance, she had a call from one man wanting her to pretend to be a child, and said if she didn't then he'd abuse the 8 year old that was upstairs in his house. Stuff like that, which obviously is revolting. Although the girls were told to hang up, things like this used to haunt her. If she hadn't been married at the time I don't think she would ever have married, as she started to view all men as perverts and saddos. She did make friends with some though (only via phone) who were basically just lonely. She always tried to view it as an acting job, which helped I think. I wouldn't say don't do it, but just make sure you're tough enough to cope with any unpleasantness. PS just reminded me of one caller she had who was almost deaf, so she had to SHOUT. V V funny trying to be sexy when shouting at the top of your voice!

fastasleep · 08/03/2006 18:55

:) I already think of most men as saddos and perverts.... I've been reading bits of a blog about what it's like, think I can handle it... the horrible stuff is awful, but in all likelyhood it's just cr*p and there wouldn't be anything I can do anyway!

ruty · 08/03/2006 19:33

most men aren't though fastasleep - that's like saying most women are tarts and slags.

by all means try it if you want, but i think people are just worried that if might be more upsetting than you can imagine. Good luck with what you decide.

fastasleep · 08/03/2006 19:35

I know it is Ruty, but for some reason I'm a bit stuck feeling that way! I think I've only know a*seholes apart from DH (I always preferred women Blush)

My best friend for years was a boy, but as soon as my bust grew I've just been perved at, hmm, need to find some non pervy men to be friends with I think! I hate being narrow minded about things...

OP posts:
ruty · 08/03/2006 19:49

well my best friend is a bloke too, for the last 14 years, [oh no that means you were five when we met, how depressing] so they do exist!

Orinoco · 08/03/2006 21:47

my dd's teacher thinks I work the sex lines, after a conversation at school about what work their parents do and she said "mummy talks to men on the phone at night". Blush

asproclear · 11/03/2006 16:40

fastasleep · 11/03/2006 16:44

Good luck! I'm awaiting the forms arriving in the post, taking their time!
