Help - I need dressing up suggestions (no costumes)

I go to a reasonably small school & we regularily have things like book day where the children dress up.

We have a small group of children (age range 4-11) who never get the opportunity to dress up - due to family circumstances.

The younger ones can normally find stuff in Receptions dressing up clothes but the older ones are a bit lost/left out.Sad

Me & some of the other mums are surupticiously collecting dressing up "props" that the older children can use inventively to "create" the basis for a costume (without it costing us too much money)

So we need ideas - we have
A cloak - witch, wizard, HP, Knight, robber.....
A top hat - gentleman, magician, white rabbit....
Pretty dress - fairy, princess, Ladyinwaiting, girl going to a party.....

Can you think of any props we might buy reasonably cheaply to use for these kids?

TIA

A length of cheap material with a hole cut out for the head, and a belt or scarf to fasten round the waist, can make a princess, knight, witch, wizard, angel, etc depending on the material colour.

A man's tie - "Daddy going to work"

Briefcase or other smart bag - Mum or Dad going to work

Old pair of high heels always seems very popular with both boys and girls. Also strings of pearls, daft "Mother of the Bride" type hats.

Plastic hats i.e. police officer are quite cheap in Woolworths or similar

White coat for doctor / chemist?

Apron and wooden spoon for chef.

Simple crown for royalty.

Furry ears and a tail for pets or wild animals.

Any good?

These are fantastic ideas - I knew MN would come up with some.....I can pass the list round the other mums and we can get together a reasonable selection

It's not fair that there is nothing for them and hopefully this idea will give them some help/ideas on the next "dress-up day"
Thanks everyone....(keep the idea coming tho')

Have you thought about going to 2nd hand/charity shop and having having a rummage. Probably loads of stuff there!

A curly blonde wig - goldilocks, rockstar, er anyone with blonde hair, would make a fun addition
