Just wondering - do cloth nappy users always...

...breastfeed?

I guess the assumption is that they do. Or at least it's my assumption Grin - happy to be proved wrong. I don't know anyone who uses cloth nappies who didn't breastfeed.

This is not supposed to be contrversial btw, or to start an argument on the pros/cons of each choice, I'm just interested.

For the record, I breastfed dd1 but used disposables; am still breastfeeding dd2 and have been using cloth nappies since she was 6mths.

I always wondered that, bonym, but didn't like to ask Wink

I breastfeed and use washables with ds (breast and bottle fed dds 1 and 2 and used disposables - a long time ago now). I know for a fact that there are bottlefeeding cloth nappy users on here - I'll let them identify themselves though!

Pruni · 03/03/2006 21:17

I didn't breastfeed but did use washables (though not exclusively).

Technically, I suppose you want all those who didn't consider breastfeeding but did decided to use washables.

Distracted · 03/03/2006 21:17

Well I can prove you wrong, I used cloth nappies for dd1 and didn't breastfeed (did try, mind you), so there you go Smile

Have one who was bottlefed and used disposables, one who was breastfed and used disposables and one who was mixed fed and uses cloth although I think if I had had more info on cloth nappies from the start then I would have used them for the first two children.

WigWamBam · 03/03/2006 21:18

The only person I know who used washable nappies bottle-fed from day 1 - she just didn't want to do it.

starlover · 03/03/2006 21:20

i TRIED to bf but had to stop. bottlefed from about 4 months

so both!

misdee · 03/03/2006 21:24

dd1- b/f for six week ,attempted cloth, but switched to disposables.

dd2-b/f for 8 weeks, started in disposables, but switched to cloth at around 1yr old

dd3, b/f and use cloth 99% of the time.

BonyM · 03/03/2006 21:26

Yes, I guess I was thinking of those who didn't actually ever want to breastfeed but used cloth, rather than those who did want to breastfeed but couldn't for any reason.

WWB has turned my assumption on it's head! I suppose my thought process was that the same drivers apply to both - ie. considering it to be better for the baby, cheaper, more environmentally friendly etc.
