a friend is having a dilemma about what to do about her SIL. she is very spoilt, gets her on way all the time and is generally a giant pain in the arse.she is obviously number one child in the family which is unfair on my friends DH. they don't get attention and my friend is stressed about the pressure she puts everyone in her family under because of this. not having a SIL i can't help!!

can you be a bit more detailed?

chicagomum · 02/03/2006 16:00

I could have written that post about my sil tbh

lavenderfraggle · 02/03/2006 16:12

she is constantly on the beg for money, babysitting from her mum, expects the whole world to revolve around around her and makes my friend dh and her feel like worthless crap. although she is in her 20's she acts like an early teen

drosophila - i can understand where you are coming from. me and dh are in the same boat. sil is a spoilt brat as are her dd's and it makes me so mad!!!

Sorry is this your sil or a friend's you are talking about?

What exactly does your friend want help with?

lavenderfraggle · 02/03/2006 16:33

just suggestions on how to deal with her i think. she knows they can't say anything to her dh's parents as they would just have a go at them for saying it

For what its worth I have a SIL in her 30's still living at home, has been funded by parents (think its more the mother rather than father)to do numerous courses degrees etc. They pay for her clothes holidays mobile phone. DH can never say a word against her to mum as she always defends her no matter what. In these situations you either just put up with it and let it wash over you without getting bothered (as best you can). Or confront it - not a wise move necessarily as it can seriously sour/destroy a future relationship with said person.

hmmm i think i can see what you mean. the thing that upsets them the most is they are infertile, but sil has two dd's who obviously are the only grandchildren and they feel this is contantly rubbed in their face by sil
