Not sure where thsi topic shoudl go.

Ds2 will be 1 at the weekend. So far, fully breastfed, exclusively until 6 months. At 9 months he developed eczema which went away then has flared up twice since (once at the moment)

I currently express for the days that I work so he has breastmilk. He has cows' milk in food and on cereal sometimes.

I am slightly atopic with quite a few things, including some foods - nothing serious.

I am toying with the idea of leaving him cows' milk when I am at work (only 2 days a week) as the whole expressing at lunchtime is getting to me a little.

Has anyone had any experience with introdcuing cows' milk in a similar situation?

Have you thought about goats milk?

I don't know an awful lot about it but I am under the impression that it is less likely to cause a reaction (excema etc).

Also, if you do want to introduce it, perhaps the first fwe times give it to him yourself in case he does react.

Both of mine had/ve excema but cows milk has not been an issue for us btw.

Din't breastfeed but introduced cows' milk at around 18 months. Total excema flare up. Used hypoallergenic formula and avoided dairy for about a year and re-introduced. Seems OK now (he's 4.5) although gets a bit scratchy if he has too much dairy.

Would ahve thought that you won't know till you try!

Thanks for your response.

I have a feeling that it is tomatoes that he mainly responds to (which is one thing which i am sensitive to)

Good idea about giving it to him myself first
He also reacted slightly when he smeared weetabix all over his face...but eats it daily and is fine

dd saw a pediatrican & dermatologist re eczema and possible milk allergy as I am american indian who are notably lactose intolerant plus lots of milk allergy in my family. both pediatrician and dermatologist agreed that milk allergy has less to do with eczema as most non-medical people seem to believe. they both say that the whites of eggs are a far more common allergen and would hold off on that instead.

My DS was on a dairy formula and had youghurts and some cheese. It was only when I started introcucing the milk to drink that it flared up. They seemto be able to tolerate processed dairy better sometimes.

Budababe, I'm in the same position, DS is 13m. Thought it was a reaction to Daz I bought by accident last month but have decontaminated all the laundry now and no improvement, poss worse.
Seeing HV for MMR next week, will get her to look FWIW.

have had a really big flare up today - he has a red 'goatee beard' type effect - just in time for the lovely birthday photos this weekend!
it has to be either couscous - which he had yesterday for the first time in months
or weetabix which he had this morning - hasnt had it for a few weeks....and it was a supermarket own brand which he hasnr had before
