Hi all. I love this site. I am getting addicted to it. I am on dial-up so my stomach tightens every time i log on. But i just can't stop!!! I will before long have broadband (just waiting for my dad to build me a new computer, my current one has no USB port so no broadband...) but tbh i'm rather worried about it cos it's not just the money that bothers me (I am going to phone BT soon in a panic to find out what my bill is so far. I pay by direct debit but i'm sure it's shot through the roof and i could be in serious trouble...)
but anyway, as i was saying, it is starting to feel like an addiction, just logging on "quickly" a few times a day to check threads I'm on but then getting caught up in something. I feel tied to my computer and unable to relax into my real life iykwim, and surely with broadband although that sick feeling about money will go, it will only get worse!

It is hard to be the only one of my close set of friends to have children, so it is great to have mumsnet,it helps me feel part of a group again and not so alone, but it's all so :( !! I think if my friends did have children i wouldn't feel the need so much to come on here. It is starting to take up far too much of my evening time particularly...

Does anyone else feel like this?

I felt that way too possum, found it upsetting when someone was attacked. I find it depends on the thread. If it sounds contraversal at all, I avoid it but I have gotten great advice on the allergy and special needs threads and I hope I have shared a bit of good advice from time to time myself. And I get great books to read in the book thread. I know the info I have gotten here from members has really helped me. I don't go on here to fight nor do I enjoy reading them but sometimes too I can see people are provoked. Stick to the good threads and you can avoid the upsetting stuff.

I don't like the threads where someone is cruelly attacked, but i do like a meaty debate.
