bit too long for most three year olds. no scary bits that I can remember.

DS is 3 and has attempted to watch it a few times but tends to get bored.

We watched it at home though so it might be a bit different in a cinema.

I think it's quite scary - the lion and the zebra are friends, but then when they go wild the lion wants to eat the zebra.

The plot is quite complex (incomprehensible?) and I'm not sure a 3 yo would get it. Has she been to the cinema before?

DS2 (5) actually sobbed all the way through this film, virtually from the opening credits. We never actually got to the bottom of the reason why - I think he doesn't agree with zoos and animals in captivity

my 2 year old watched it in thencinema andwa scaptivated

wasn't it a bit scary for kids when they went into the jungle? I don't think I have watched the whole think either!

Dts (4) loved this film last year when it came out. Saw it a few times and now have the dvd. I can't really say that it is frightening or scary as dts1 is particularly sensitive and he loved it.

Kept going up to his brother and saying "You're biting my butt !"

There are more details on this site . HTH

dd1 was just over 3 when we took her to the cinema for the first time. She loved it - although there is the adult humour that of course washes over children's heads.

SuperTramp · 24/02/2006 05:25

My 4 year old loves it. Haven't seen it all the way through myself so don't know if there are any scary bits but DS seems to find the characters very funny. I think most films are a bit too long for a pre-schooler to watch right through though.

bobbybobbobbingalong · 24/02/2006 05:39

It's only 75 minutes and the end comes 5 minutes after the scary bit.

A 3 year old doesn't understand that one animal is trying to eat the other, but the atmosphere gets scary.

Ds has gone through a phase of saying "hoover dam", "holy moley" and "this sucks" even though he has no idea what they mean.

I thought the story was quite simple, just following the 4 animals, with a few side bits for the parents, but just the one main story.

I think Sleeping Beauty is more scary personally.

veuveclicquot · 24/02/2006 05:53

My DD loves this. She's 3.3.

She particularly loves 'move it move it' and the Christmas Penguins.

"Hoover Dam". Guffaw. I love Madagascar.

Did you know that King Julien is Ali G? Brilliant.

Nothing really scary. As bobbob says the atmosphere darkens but my DD is more scared of monsters and ghosts than subtle atmosphere darkening.

bobbybobbobbingalong · 24/02/2006 06:37

Ds was allowed to feed the Lemurs at a wildlife park - he thought he had met celebrities! They are really gentle creatures and peeled his fingers back to get to the food.

Ds thinks they are singing "I like the movie, movie"

tissy · 24/02/2006 08:12

my just 4 year old dd has had the dvd since it came out, and LOVES it! That is a girl who refuses to watch a certain episode of Dora the Explorer because she is frightened of the baddie (Senor Shush).

Belo · 24/02/2006 08:15

My 3 year old loves it. And, so do a lot of her friends. We've got the DVD and she would be happy to watch it every day. She's never mentioned being scared by it, but I have to admit, I've never watched it with her. When it goes on, that's my cue to catch up on stuff that needs doing.

The only problem is that she always sings 'I like to move it' afterwards. Gets a bit annoying after a while...

treacletart · 24/02/2006 08:46

My 2.5 year old DS has this on DVD and adores it - got to be honest, not sure it really stands up to as many repeat viewings as I've had to sit through, but I don't think you need to worry about it being too scary - DS thinks the bit where a cute little duckling thing gets snapped up by a crocodile - blink and you'll miss this btw - is the funniest thing ever.

Mascaraohara · 24/02/2006 09:00

dd is 3.5 has it on DVD and loves it. no scary bits.
