My dh works, roughly, 2-3 nights away a week (Europe), it's all we've ever known and I suppose you just get used to it. I think a lot depends on the sort of person you are. If I am totally honest, I get very lonely and sometimes a bit depressed when he's away, but a lot of that is to do with the fact we live semi-rural and I hate where we live. I echo what previous posters have said about doing all the teatime/bedtime routine alone, it is hard and I really, really miss that extra pair of hands!

So, pros, dh has a good career and it pays the mortgage. Being apart CAN strengthen your relationship, I still get butterflies when he comes home and behave like it's the first day of the long summer school holidays!

Cons - his job takes him away too much (I think) and overall he misses too much of family life. You have to be pretty independent and ensure you can tackle all the stuff he would normally do (this is usually where I stumble), and it certainly helps if you have family/friends close by.

Good luck to you both in deciding what to do.

Thanks.

I think if he does take the job it might be a good idea to postpone th move till he sees whether he likes the job....

We have already sold our house so we can be pretty flexible about moving. We are currently renting so should be in strong position once we decide!

This change though is taking a while..... Nearly a year and we still aren't sorted.... Just getting impatient I suppose.

A shame as I have found the perfect house for us!
