if you had the choice of two of the above which would you go for?

bedroom each then playroom

ScummyMummy · 18/02/2006 14:27

depends how old the kids are and if they are happy sharing, whether you need/would love a study etc. Atm I would go for shared bedroom, I think, because my two genuinely seem happier together but later i would like them to have their own space each, if we can manage that.

Hmm, is your garden big enough to build a log cabin office in in years to come? I think if you went for shared room in favour of an office you may get kicked out one day and find yourself desperate.
But then would they use a playroom upstairs if you are downstairs most of the time? Most kids like to keep an eye on mum while they play, just to make sure she's not doing something more fun without them. If you live in a bungalow though that's not a problem.
Definitely no more kids planned?

Bedroom each.

Mothernature · 18/02/2006 16:56

Bedroom each, they will thank you for it....

Shared room , playroom and study.

We have a big study/ playroom and it is godsend. Is big enough for toys in one bit and a desky filing shelfy bit up the other. Means no toys or paperwork crap in rest of downstairs - bliss. Kids only sleep in bedrooms , mine always follow me around and always play downstairs anyway.

My dses have bedroom each but keep asking to share a room. So I guess it would be bedroom and playroom.

nutcracker · 18/02/2006 17:58

Is the choice that they share and then you have a play room or study ??

If so i would say share and have play room and then when they get older they can have seperate rooms.

Twiglett · 18/02/2006 18:04

depends on age I think .. for pre-pubescents I'd let them share .. nothing like sharing a room with a sibling and have a playroom or study as well depending on which was more sorely required

something to be said for keeping toys out of the bedroom I suppose

but I'd be ready to turn it over into a bedroom when they start requesting privacy

at the moment they share a room and we have our smallest bedroom as a study. We're extending downwards and having the basement done. The main idea is to have it as a playroom, and keep the study. The problem is that if teh girls decide they don;t want to share anymore we loose teh study iyswim. I'm also thinking abut it from the pov of selling. the ideal would be to make the basement two rooms - study and playroom. But unless we had a room with no windows it can't be done. K74 - how does it work out having teh study/computer and playroom all in one? Do you ever work from home? or want to use teh computer when dcs are around? can't quite imagine how it would work. I think for the moment we'll keeo the little bedroom as a study and if they do ever want their own rooms we'll have to shift the computer into the playroom. Doesn't particularly appeal though.

my 6 yr old twins had a room each but begged to share - so have given in and the other room is a playroom for now.
