I know, I know...how much is a piece of string? but help me out of you can please Grin

I'm returning to the UK after spending several years abroad but I'm a bit worried about how far my income will have to stretch. I'm a single parent to 1 child and my net income will be around 1600GBP per month. I'm planning on living in Berkshire area where it seems that a pretty basic 2 bed flat will cost 800-1000GBP per month.

Approx how much would it cost per month to pay for all the standard, usual bills ie:
road tax
motor insurance
petrol
groceries
water
gas/elec
council tax
contents insurance
internet
phone

I can't even remember all the bills I used to pay. What have I missed?

On top of this I'll be paying student loan as well as other debts and am worried I might have to re-think my plans to return.

I realise no one can tell me how much my bills will be, but any rough estimates would help, please Smile

10 house insurance
25 phone/Internet

Hmm.
road tax - mines only £40 a year
motor insurance - £50 a month
petrol - £200 a month
groceries - £300 a month
water £30 a month
gas/elec combined £100 a month
council tax - mine is £120 a month
contents insurance - I pay £15 a month
internet/phone - £20 a month
Student loan - they take £50 a month

Don't know if this helps or not? Don't forget buildings insurance (we pay property management fees instead so not sure how much this is).

I only earn £21k which is £1300 take home ish - I struggle! (but manage) obviously have my mortgage and related payments on top of this.
