We phoned the blue cross a few weeks back and they have just phoned to say they can now take him. I am a bit upset but know its the best thing, we can't give him the attention he needs, and he has seperation problems and howls whenever we go out, and neighbours were complaining. I hope they will find him a home that can give 24/7 attention.

You not had him long have you?

sparklymieow · 14/02/2006 16:00

no, the Jack russell is going, we said that we would give him a chance with the puppy, but he is still howling, which makes the puppy bark. We just can't deal with him.

we thought that having a friend might make him more settled but it didn't work

SM..Oh i see, i had to go through the same thing recently, we had to get a new home for our dog, similar reasons really, not getting the attention he deserved etc...it is heartbreaking but you gotta remember...you are doing the best for the dog

sparklymieow · 14/02/2006 16:04

its not that we don't care, we love both of them, but the jack russell is snappy, and howls, which isn't good, and we can't go out as a family because of him (unless we get a dogsitter)

You are doing the right thing...i know how hard it is though.

Good luck xx

Is this the one that ate crap and then threw it up on your DD's duvet? YUK!

Pixiefish · 14/02/2006 16:07

We had to rehouse our dog last year as the dermatologist said she was making dd's eczema worse. After much soul searching we found her a fab new home. I'd had her for 8 years and it absolutely broke my heart but dd had to come first and I'm happy that the dog ahs a fab new home

sparklymieow · 14/02/2006 16:08

i know, he has tried my patience so much, can't go out during the day when the kids are at school and has become very snappy (he is 8 so I think he is getting old and bad tempered now lol) I will miss him though

yes thats the one EIS, I have been trying to rehome himself but noone wanted him, so to the blue cross he has to go.

I miss mine like mad. I couldn't have rehomed her- dh had to do that- it was breaking my heart. Her quality of life wasn't as good as it used to be pre-dd though and that coupled with the eczema made the decision for us.

Be strong tomorrow xx

sparklymieow · 14/02/2006 16:10

The thing is he can be lovely when he isn't eating crap, howling and puking...

those are pretty big ones, tho, sparkly. you're doing the right thing.

Pixiefish · 14/02/2006 16:12

I know- my dog was so much a part of my life and I love her dearly still. But her quality of life wasn't good any more as we had to keep her out of dd's way with the eczema.

sparklymieow · 14/02/2006 16:13

i know, in a way i will be glad to actually be able to go out without worrying if a neighbour will complain when we get back, and to know my kids aren't going to find sick on their beds.
Another reason is I can't see the HA allowing a howling dog to stay in their house, and I don't want to lose the house.
