Let's hear it for the boys

I've recently read a few threads of mums feeling upset that they have DS rather than DD. We hear so much in the media about boys' underachievement, gang cullture, anti-social behaviour etc. So in the interests of restoring a little balance, tell me what is fabulous about the little (and big) boys in your life.

I have 2 DS 13 and 8
They are amazing.
They are loving, kind, funny, kindhearted, hardworking.
I have a 14 yo dd
She is all those things too.

I have 2 DSs, 12 and 10. They are kind, polite and both doing well at school. They bicker and fight but they love each other really. They make me laugh a lot.

I don't feel I am missing anything by not having a DD.

The older one does actually take an hour to get ready for school, will Only wear a Gucci belt (which he paid for himself) and will only wear his trainers for short periods of time in case he creases them.
However he makes me a cup of coffee as soon as I get in from work every day, looks out for his younger brother and does the hovering.

It's their simplicity that I love ..... They never have the complicated friendships and fallouts that seems to plague girls.

I don't think you need to worry as much about boys as you do about girls ....

I have 2 DSs - 23 and 14, they are hysterically funny, give great hugs, and have amazing empathy - sticking up for 'underdog' even if it goes against the grain..

DS1 is lovely with girlfriends, a couple of years ago he drove all the way back (over 150 miles) home to buy his girlfriend a pregnancy test (she lived here and messed up her pill taking) and be with her while they waited for the result.. Luckily it was negative [phew!] so he drove back for college the next day.

He pays monthly to a different charity which he changes annually, oh and got a First class honours degree last year.. Not bad for a kid with an absent father

I could go on.. lets just say I'm a very proud mum of boys!

these are nice to read. My DS (2.8) is driving me bonkers atm so I look forward to having a proper grown up loving boy.

My DSs are very young at the moment (only 2 and 3) but they are utterly gorgeous. DS1 is totally into babies and loves looking out for all our friends younger siblings, finding toys for them, making them laugh, hugging them when they're sad.

DS2 is just an all-round entertainer Grin - will dance in front of long queues of people, fool about and generally make people laugh. He is utterly wilful and drives me to distraction but both boys give the best hugs ever!

Yay for boys!
