Can't remember who was emigrating to Australia - their dp/dh's visa had come through and they posted on a thread? Can't remember...ANYWAY there is a program on Channel 4 at 8pm tonight about moving to Sydney.

If anyone is interested.

Wish I was going

and me Oliveoil

I watched "No going back" last night. Usually I find I have to shout at the TV at least twice ( even though I still admire the guts shown to do it), but last night the couple were so proffessional...they will make a wonderful life for themselves!!

Ooooh its the prolific poster(er?)

Yes, I would love to emigrate, beaches and sun and sea ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. My BIL lives in Sydney and his flat overlooks a beach. Mine overlooks a main road!

A friend of mine has also just emigrated to Australia ( well a year ago) - He keeps asking us over - would love to but need at least 3 weeks and managing PT work and school hols is as many balls as I can juggle....but who knows - would love to go.

I'd love to sell up and do the France thing...so would DH - but we both don't feel that it is fair to our DD's. We have promised ourselves that we'l go when DD's are older and financialy off our hands (if they ever are!!) - I love watching all those TV programmes though - sad eh!!

I think one of the reasons they were successful was that they didn't have children - they could work all hours and focus 100% on the "Business".
If you introduced children into the scenario, not only would they have had difficulty with managing the work/entertaining, but would have had to interact with the community more and ensure that their children were settled and happy at school/nursery, made friends etc...
I think I remember your posts stressyhead....

oliveoil it sounds as though you'd love it over here. The beaches, climate, etc. are wonderful, but the only drawback is the SIZE of the place!!! Travelling around Australia can be a massive undertaking - but having said that, I think it's well worth the effort. Some of the beaches are really breathtaking. But then we also have the distance factor between us and the rest of the world... it can make travelling overseas very expensive and time-consuming.

Wouldn't swap it for the world though...

I travelled in Australia for 6 months - drove round it - so I know how big it is, it is HUGE. Fantastic place. Whereabouts are you? And what time it there!? 11 at night-ish?
