Hi,

Does anyone have any ideas for what to get as a Christening present for a 15 month old girl? Not too expensive (£15 - £25 would be about right). It can't take more than a couple of weeks to order (Christening is the 18th, I think).

Cheers.

Really nice hardback book of children's stories/poems? Or smart edition of one of the classics (eg. Winnie the Pooh, or set of Beatrix Potter books). That's now my standby, and seems to go down well with parents, which is the main thing. Alternatively a classic or original piece of children's china.

this is nice

Can't help you I'm afraid but I read Christmas present instead of Christening in your thread title and thought OMG

lazymoo · 09/02/2006 13:17

Well, I have just choked on my Cup of Tea. I thought the thread read
'Stuck. Christmas present ideas' LOL

When my DD was christened a friend of ours gave her a photo album, filled with photos of DP and I from years gone past ... which she thinks is lovely now she is 11.

Ponka, I had three christenings last year for nephews and nieces and bought them all a crockery money box from Disney. They all absolutely loved them. They come in all shapes and sizes eg Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Tinkerbell and I think they were £15 each

mommie · 09/02/2006 13:33

money!! not every one's cup of tea, but we asked for financial contributions to our dd's child trust fund when she got christened and were so glad we did - otherwise you do tend to get a load of horrid silver trinkets

LeahE · 09/02/2006 13:47

I agree with frogs, nice children's books are always a good bet. If it's a very religious family you couldmake them religious in tone (Bible picture books, etc.).

Ponka · 09/02/2006 13:47

Thank you, everyone. Now I have lots of ideas to think about. You sound like you've done this a lot Waterfalls! Like the idea of Beatrix Potter books sets because at 15 months, she is already a book worm.

Lol Lazymoo & NotActuallyAMum. Either you must have thought that I was the most organised supermum in the world or the most disorganised and late!

My son was christened a few months ago and the best pressie he got was the mint collection of all the current coins(money) we use at the moment. Really different!

Something they grow up and use. For my god daughter I bought her an antique necklass that her mum has put away to give her on her 21st birthday. Hopefully it will go up in value.

Alternatively what about a premium bond (possibly a little too expensive but I haven't ever bought one).

Antoher idea is an antique book.

My daughter got a necklass with a tiny tiny diamond. Was about £15 - but was nice as it was her first diamond (like she has that many that I've lost count ).

I love Mumsnet. So many good ideas. I really like the coins one. Thanks everyone.
