Do health care workers get special parking rights that the rest of us don't??

Went to collect DD from my mum's last night, and the parking down her road was a nightmare. I parked in the only space I could find - on the hard standing (a legal parking space) just at the end of the turning bay at the end of the road.

I then waddled my huge self up the road to my mums.

I get there, chat, bundle up DD, and the three of us (my mum came to help lift DD into the car) waddle back down the road to my car, to find it has another car parked behind it, completely blocking me in .

The car had a note in the window saying "health care worker on call".

Luckily my mum knows her neighbours fairly well, and had a rough idea who might have a HCW, so we went there, and they said they'd be done in 5 mins or so, and let us know when they were moving the car. Again and . 8pm on a very cold night with a toddler and a very pregnant woman, and "we'll let you know".

Doctor on call I can just about understand, but surely a health care worker has to find a parking space miles away like the rest of us, and walk???

Its not the first time its happened - last time I tried to park at that time of night, it was double parked with the same car, I just didn't look in the window of it as I was just trying to find a space (didn't occur to me about the poor person who'd been blocked in ).

If it happens again, I'd like to see if there is some supervisor or something that can have a word with the woman, but I wanted to check that there isn't some weird double parking loophole for certain jobs....

My friend is a CPN & can park in otherwise restricted spaces whilst on call.BUT I'm sure that that doesn't include blocking someone else in.
I'd complain,it just isn't on,what if you'd had an emergency & couldn't get out?

Someone did this to me & another lady in a supermarket last week & I went ballistic at the guy when he eventually returned to his car!

I wasn't sure if I was just hormonal and overreacting. I just kept thinking "what if I were to be in labour?"

would it be the same as someone blocking your drive (whilst car is in drive)
if so contact police to remove vehicle
phone dvla, police or local council for details

You're not being hormonal hun, i too would be very p-off if somebody did that to me. being a healthcare worker doesn't mean she has the right to be so inconsiderate and rude. What kind of selfish person leaves a pregnant women and toddler stranded like that on a cold january evening even if it was only for 5 minutes, I definately think you should complain hun xx
