I've got piles and piles of photos lying on my desk, which I should really sort through and put into photo albums, I've also got one of those 'my first year' books for dd2, which asks me to fill in at what times she woke up and fell asleep in her first night - does anybody actually remember that?, and I still want to fill a photo album with pictures from dd1's christening, which was 15 months ago. And I keep putting it off and putting it off, which is another thing on my personal 'I'm a Mum therefore I feel guilty all the time' list - next to 'I don't feed them enough healthy stuff', 'I don't stimulate them enough' and 'I let them watch too much TV' and and and....
So what do you do? Chuck all photos into a box? Or are you like one of my friends who writes comments underneath the photos which read 'Here you can see Mummy feeding me my first spoonful of baby rice - mmmh yummy! I love Mummy!"
Sorry, I'm in a bit of a foul mood today - just wish I could switch off for a bit sometimes!
Would nevertheless like to hear what you do with your photos!

Ok I had this, and you need to decide a date from when you start doing them.

I chose the birth of ds1 and all ones before them remain in a box - I had to start somewhere.

Got a series of albums that take aps ones - boots do plain black ones and strted putting them in

BIN ones that are crap and put 2/3 the same in the same hole so you can use these for kids to take into school or whatever...

Tey and do one era/child a session and its a good idea to get someone round to help (or a larger child) and you cna have a lugh and talk about them - even with abottle of wine!

HTH

OH and all hte rest that you cant put into albums you can still put into those filing boxes

I'm much lazier than Ms Wallop, so I used fancy shoeboxes from this company . The Photo Frame Box and Life Preserves-Photo both are similar to what I have. It's nice in that I can locate photos quickly, but it didn't require a lot of time on my part. (I didn't fill out the info for each photo.)

For the baby book, do a poll on Mumsnet and take an average of all the answers. Your DD won't be any the wiser.

emkaren - Lol at your friend's photo albumns! (or should that be yak? )

My filing system is mostly envelope based. Well it was, but dd found the big-trunk-of-important-things which contained all the envelopes and they are now swimming around that trunk freely - along with old newspapers, art stuff etc. Plus I have digital ones dotted around my PC, the spare PC in our office, Cds here and there...

But I don't feel guilty about it (the other stuff on your guilt list, yes). Be messy and be proud!

I get clear plastic photo albums from Muji that are really cheap (£3?) and fit 120 4"x6" photos. I automatically get two copies of all rolls I develop and put one set directly into these photo albums (I only edit out the totally blurry or black ones). I send off the other set to the appropriate people (parents, in-laws, stepkids, etc.). The Muji albums are really pretty childproof too. They have been through my 3 step kids and my two babies and the photos are still intact. I've been doing this for a few years now and am really thrilled with it as a solution.
I knew that I had a photo problem, when I realized that as I was getting divorced from my first husband, I hadn't yet put together our wedding album (we'd be married 8.5 years).
