Just an excuse for my own slovenliness really! Today have managed to

  1. ignore washing pile the size of Everest
  2. do finger painting with dd rather than iron
  3. suddenly find loads of things I have to do on the net rather than sort out the paperwork.

Make me feel better and sign up now!

let me in! you have an iron??? have never had one, just shake the clothes out after washing. having got 3 boys i have now got to the stage the past few weeks where i am brushing all the lego, cars and bits under sofa - just cannot do it anymore. having come from a house that was always spotless in my childhood, i know how much misery comes from keeping them constantly like that. feel much more comfortable around messy houses!

choccywoccydoodaa · 01/02/2006 14:03

Come in and welcome - would offer you a seat but you'd have to place your buttocks around the artistically posed Barbies!

ooh can i join please??? i have spent today helping my ds1 make rice krispie cakes which of course involved helping to eat them , making playdoh monsters and drawing lol!
I have a kitchen that you cant see the sink, the washing basket is overflowing and the ironinig board is almost non exsistent with all the clothes on it
By the time dp arrives home the house wil of course be spotless with dinner on the table

shrub · 01/02/2006 14:05

Ha are you saying I've got a big but????

shrub · 01/02/2006 14:10

the really annoying thing is my neighbour who lives on her own gets a cleaner in once a week.the van is outside now mocking me, whispering and sniggering! wish i could swan in and everything be done and a big fat italian mama cook to lovingly prepare all our meals......

MissChief · 01/02/2006 14:13

IKWYM- can see my neighbour's spotless house also mocking me! So embarrassed at the chaos & dirt they must see daily thro' their (clean) windows into ours. Just found a dead mouse (courtesy of cats though)

MissChief · 01/02/2006 14:15

reminder of that rat scene in last week's desperate housewives...

Passionflower · 01/02/2006 14:31

Me too, I'm a total domestic slut.

Beds unmade, washing up undone, stairs need hoovering, pile of ironing, the list is endless .

Have made some chocolate muffins for teatime though.

choccywoccydoodaa · 01/02/2006 14:34

Pull up a pew girls! I am also hoping the threat of tidy hubby returning may gird me into action. Not that there is ever any real pressure - as he achieves 0 when caring for ds and dd! Am now toying with the idea of puting some stuff in the loft but may well sit down with a coffee instead. After all, I don't want to let the side down now, do I?!

cool club! Today I have:

  1. lay down on bed as soon as I dropped dd at school and nursery, with large refill of coffee and juicy novel I am re-reading because it was so good (a first for me). 5 minutes-phone rings

2)drove back to nursery to collect projectile vomiting dd2 (out of blue) parked her in front of telly and went on PC to order Prozac refill.

3)rang DB (dear Boss) to say I might miss interviewing tomorrow if she is still sick. Rang DH to moan as this person I am trying to hire is for ME and I need to be there-he is away tonight and tomorrow at yet another F*ing residential meeting, waffling no doubt. Extracted guilty promise of return if nec. Yay! He emptied DW this morning too and made coffee, I usually do that but went on strike.

4)took 1.5 hours to actually switch on vomit-wash load of her clothes-but did sit with her and had a basin ready at a VERY useful moment. Also covered sofa with sheet. Refilled her nursery change bag with clean clothes. Folded 2 pairs of socks and a tea towel out of the giant mountain on sofa, then gave up. Maybe can pay dd1 a pittance or a smarty to do it later, she's 5 and can't count money much yet.heheh

5)put a few breakfast and dinner dishes in dishwasher. looked at gross kitchen with unwiped surfaces, then in one remaining clean-ish spot made lunch for me and ate it out of her sight. Later cooked and fed her a mild and small lunch which stayed down so far, read her a story and put her to bed for extra long nap... while I surf the web!!! (next to towering piles of untouched household papers, some urgent) Can't do housework, might wake her up!

BonyM · 01/02/2006 14:46

Ooh - can I join please?

My breakfast bowl is still on the table, there is clean washing all over the sofa waiting to be put away and I haven't finished unpacking the Tesco delivery I received last night .

I have, however, just had a very nice lunch with three friends and their babies, and am now managing to catch up with MN whilst dd2 sleeps and before we have to go pick up dd1 from school.

majorstress · 01/02/2006 14:50

As a member in good standing (4 minutes) may I welcome you BonyM on behalf of the rest? You sound well qualified-how old are your dds? I will have to wake my sick one to go get dd1 from school soon.

shrub · 01/02/2006 15:05

majorstress - re: 'can't do housework, might wake her up! - loving your style! thats my excuse too.

MissChief · 01/02/2006 15:11

just cleared up for my cleaner

majorstress · 01/02/2006 15:11

hey members, have you always been lazy like me? Or is it a new hobby for any of you?

I paid a cleaner for years, can't anymore but I no longer seem to be capable of doing it myself. Maybe I never did really but without kids I was out all the time so didn't notice.

choccywoccydoodaa · 01/02/2006 15:30

Big hello to all new members; BoneyM, Pepperpots, Misschief, Passionflower and of course, anti-housework icon in the making, Majorstress!

Now tell me - are you fairweather anti-housework people (like me who will be scooting around like a mad thing later as have guests tomorrow) or are you hard liners? I've often been tempted to hijack the 15 minutes cleaning threads but have realised that this slovenliness is my issue. Perhaps the cleaning brigade could offer me some counselling!!!

Hrm, I might be in the more extreme end, I also don't do much in the wholesome kid activities category either. I'm sure there is a crap mum club too of which I am a FOUNDER member.

Collected dd1 from school, dragging sad dd2 in buggy (she usually walks). DD1 announced she was hungry on arrival home -this inspired dd2 to vomit again-so that isn't looking promising for nursery tomorrow. Handed dd1 bread butter and implements and she prepared and ate 3 slices, asking politely between each one (she's used to more control!). Started Thumbelina DVD for dd2 and sat with her a while-but need to drag her out to take dd1 to art class (that sounds wholesome, but the entire point of it was to get rid of both of them for an hour every week while I read or cook dinner in a leisurely fashion). I did get dd1 to eat a grape, and had a few myself.

I DID get that washing into the dryer-I may not be into housework but I know what happens if you forget clothes in this condition for any length of time (don't ask how-it ain't pretty).

My plans for the day did not include 1) any illness, except maybe a headache for me 2) any additional washing or nasty messes. 3) minding dd2 instead of getting rid of both kids to art class. So I have done way too much today already.

Friends, help support me in cutting down on this nasty habit of housework.

choccywoccydoodaa · 01/02/2006 17:07

Will be on line later to offer soothing words of advice on going cold turkey!! (I'll admit to forgetting to empty the washing machine - yeukkk!)

Off to feed the little ones !
