Ds has come home from school with a letter saying that on the last day of school before half term, all the children have to come in fancy dress, with the subject being 'Jobs from the Future' -wtf?! I haven't got a ruddy clue!! Any suggestions from you lot? You are bound to be infinitely more creative than me.

No-one can argue with that!

Tortington · 31/01/2006 22:15

can he carry a cardbord box and when asked say " i'm thinking outside the box"

a car is a piece of piss to make out of a cardboard box

clown is easy too - dress in too big clothes and paint face

i fkin hated when school did this. like i had fk all else to do than make fancy dress costumes for twins work full time and play my own pity violin ...bstards.

Tortington · 31/01/2006 22:16

Racers · 31/01/2006 22:37

custardo and rhubarb!

They really like to challenge you at this school, eh?!

Bomper · 31/01/2006 22:47

I know -b*stards!!!! I hated it when they had to go as characters from their favourite books but at least there was loads to choose from!!! Trouble is - you know there is going to be some mum who takes it really seriously and goes mad with a costume. I remember when dd1 was at nursery and they had to go as a farm animal. Well, I cheated a bit, and she went as a farm cat!! Cat ears from halloween, nose and whiskers drawn on with eyeliner, and a furry tail and I was away!! But some kid came in in a bloody cockerel outfit!!! All tissue paper tail and elaborate beak. Talk about feeling useless!!

I'm sure the teachers have a right laugh when they come up with these suggestions!

Tortington · 31/01/2006 22:57

when asked to do do fancy dress i opened two cardboard boxes folded them in half at the natural crease cut a hole in the top and painted them white and then drew a single spade and an 'A' and they both went as a playing card.

Tortington · 31/01/2006 22:57

if you do that tell him to say 'i'm going to be a gambler just like my grandma'

BadHair · 31/01/2006 23:06

I haven't had the joy of this yet, but I did notice that when our Junior school children had a day like this, all the boys were astronauts or firemen and all the girls were fairies. I spotted a couple of Darth Vaders too.
Had a good laugh until I remembered that in a couple of years time I'll be in the same boat.

Tortington · 01/02/2006 22:13

what costume did you chose?
