Microsoft Access Question

I'm trying to create a database containing addresses. How do I type an address into a field so that the whole address appears in one field but on different lines (ie as if you've pressed return between each line).

I know it's possible since I already have an address file like this! Unfortunately that was converted from a Lotus Approach file and I don't know how to do it in Access. I can copy and paste an address field from the other database and just edit the address but there has to be a proper way of doing this!!

Can't be ar$ed to search the help topics after a cursory glance so I'm asking the font of all knowledge

SoupDragon

If only you had asked me this 7 years ago when I was doing Access Database design.

I recall seeing how this was done but have no clue now how we did it.

Is it not in the settings for the field you use? As in the field is limited in length but also has multiple lines in it already?

It doesn't seem to be a setting. It happily lets me copy and paste a miltiple lined entry in but I can't work out how to actually create the multiple line since hitting return carries me to the next field.

It's really bugging me!!

Type Ctrl-Enter at the end of the line and it will move you on to a new Virtual Line. This is a soft Line feed as opposed to Enter which gives you a hard line feed (probably too much information)

You are a star!! I'd tried an assortment of similar things but clearly not that one.

Thanks!
