Am I over reacting to lazy Dp

Just wanted to see what anyone else thought.
Last night decided that we should take Dd out for the day as Sunday is the only day that neither of us work. But it's now nearly eleven o'clock and he is still in bed after going to his freinds house last night and drinking a bottle of vodka and not getting home till 5 in the morning. I've tried to wake him three times but he just goes back to sleep.
What's more annoying is the fact he does this a lot, not the drinking, but just not getting out of bed, even if we're planning on doing something. We ended up leaving him a couple of weeks ago and going to the zoo without him.
We both work all week, he works normal nine to five and I work from four till eight at night so he doesn't see Dd until at least eight thirty every night after I pick her up from my mum, who looks afetr her whilst I'm working.
I just think he would want to spend some time with her. I don't really mind if he doesn't want to spend time with me but I think he keeps letting her down by not doing anything with us.
So do you think I'm over reacting, that all men do this or that he really is just acting like a child.

No, don't think you are overreacting at all. You say you don't really mind if he doens't want to spend time with you. Makes me wonder if you have any good times in your relationship atm?

If he finishes work at 5pm, why doesn't he collect dd from your mum's instead of waiting until you finish at 8pm? He could have more time with her then.

oh my goodness, what does he like? sounds like my dp!!! my dp isnt here right now, could it be??

i think its a male thing, hopefully not all men but a good number, they rae childish sometimes and i feel the same way as you have just described, for example he was supposed to have weekend off work this weekend, but goes to work half day yesterday, comes home with a new drill which he is over the bloody moon about. I have been home all day with a poorly dd, she has diarrohea and has been vomiting, she has shat her way through every towel, change mat and sheet in the house, due to me keeping her nappyless becuase she has a very sore bum, anyway he gets home and doest even say hello to her, sets about fiddling with and be like a big kid with his new drill.

so today we are supposed to spend as a family but oh no, gets a call and has gone off to work for the day wont be home until 6/7 this evening. I know he's working for us, i know the tool is useful for his job but i just wish he could see what an ass he is sometimes

tamula · 29/01/2006 10:59

what does he look like

1980cat · 29/01/2006 11:14

I'd love him to do that Frekle but his job is pretty near out flat and my mum lives at the other side of town and he doesn't drive (another thing that annoys me about him), although the bus stops around the corner and stops next to my mums house. I wouldn't mind so much if when he came home he did more than sit and watch tv and play on the net.
He's a short guy with spikey hair tamula could it be the same person. Although he doesn't work late he has a great job with set hours, every bank holiday and Sunday and Wednseday off and no overtime so should be perfect for family life.
I just end up feeling like I have a family of me and Dd and he appears occasionaly kind of like being a single parent with and extra income and less freedom to do what I want.
Our relationship seems to go in spells and things have actually been pretty good for the most part recently. I'm scared they are going to end up the way they were at the start of the summer last year when we were making plans for splitting up.

Another thread that leaves me scratching my head.

Honestly, get some counselling to determine why your self-esteem is so low you feel life w/a complete dicksmack like this is what you and your child deserve.

Overreacting? Um, no. He'd have been out of most peoples' lives a long time ago.

People like this don't deserve a relationship, much less a child.

alexsmum · 29/01/2006 11:35

not you're not unreasonable. he is .
his behaviour is outrageous. i would be very unhappy if my dh behaved like this.
he should be getting the bus from work and going to pick up your daughter rather than leave her until 8pm.even if he then stays at your mums until you come to pick up both of you.
what does he do with that time? between 5.30 and 8.00? does he do all the house work and get the dinner ready? i suspect not.
he's behaving like a child.you have a perfect right to be pissed off.

Wanker. My dp has gone through phases like this but me screeching over asnd over again has corrected it.
