sounds a bit odd to me, although my kids arent that old yet so maybe i'd think differebt in a few years time.

On the otherhand they are still young and there's no real harm in it, I guess it teaches them about helping others.

it would be a bit different if they were 13 though!

hercules · 25/01/2006 18:48

This seems very strange and I would say I didnt want my daughter doing that.

LIZS · 25/01/2006 18:51

Nope - they do their games and changing separately and the boys do their own ties and buttons ! ds is same age and just mastering the tie.

Milliways · 25/01/2006 18:52

In reception, DD used to help her friend with buttons & laces. They were all encouraged to help each other, but friends with friends, not just boys/girls.

By yr3, they will have swimming lessons so should be able to dress themselves. First one dressed used to get a merit. I got cross becaouse no time allowed for girls to dry hair before walking back to the school!

Jasnem · 25/01/2006 18:53

Sounds odd to me, too. How are the boys going to learn to be independant (and they should be by yr3imo)if they know they can take it easy and have the girls help them????
I'd go in and speak to the teacher about it.

seems very odd

are you sure that's right??

Tortington · 25/01/2006 21:09

i think if the uniform is proving problematic for the teacher that she should go through the proper chanels in introducing a new one - most places now do a polo shirt and jumper.

moondog · 25/01/2006 21:11

Eh????
I would be very annoyed.
Have never learnt how to do a tie-on principle.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 25/01/2006 21:12

Dont see a problem with 3 years olds helping each other tbh. I recall doing something similar at primary school way back when.

Angeliz · 25/01/2006 21:12

I wouldn't be happy at all with that. At first i thought it sounded incrediby sexist but then you said it worked both ways though. How old is that?
8 or 9??

I wouldn't like my daughter to be dressed be a boy at that age. Very odd and not right IMO!!
