Any thoughts on Ceramics Cafes?

Hi everyone,

How are we all? I was wondering if I could pick people's brains on their experiences with Ceramics Cafes? The ones where you pay to paint your own pottery. I'm debating starting my own business having come into some money and this is my favourite idea.

I have 2 daughters of my own and will quite often take them to one of these cafes, I think they are a great idea for presents at Christmas time and for birthdays but was wondering what other people thought of them?

Do you enjoy going? What do you like or dislkie about them? Are the prices reasonable? If not, what is reasonable? Would you consider holding a birthday party at one of these such cafes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance,
Abbie!

I love them. I used to love going particularly before having children, so there's definitely a market out there for childless people (many of the cafés round here seem to be 100% geared towards kids and getting their footprints etc etc - which is clearly a good market to gear towards, but a good mix IMHO would be better) (in fact I also went there as part of the 'tame' Wink part of my hen do :)

Prices have soared in recent years - the ceramics themselves are ludicrous - no less than £10 for a tiny little plate or a tile. Anything fancy like a nice pasta bowl or some such is £££. I begrudge paying a big studio fee, and especially don't like paying a studio fee for my DCs if they come in, slap a bit of paint on for 5 mins and that's it.

Coffee and the like being served at the same time is a bonus - especially if nice cakes etc are on offer.

High chairs for babies who are dragged along (and paper and crayons for little people to occupy them nicely while I try to be crafty)
