He never went back to Gorgie. Met a Newhaven girl and that was them in Trinity when it was still w/i the price range of mere mortals.

Sigh . . .

We almost bought in Trinity too - then the lure off the South-Side got too much for us and we sold our soul to the devil for a place in Colinton! .

Main door flat in Stockbridge Pruni that's what you want! Lovely . And a good cycle up Dundas Street each morning to keep fit!!!

expatinscotland · 23/01/2006 20:54

They bought their house there for £21,000. It's now worth . . . a shitload.

But if you do rent in Stockbridge, good luck if you've got a car.

What about the top of Leith Walk/Meadowbank way? You could cycle through the park to the Commonwealth Pool and then freewheel straight down the hill to Cameron Toll and KB . I've no idea what flat prices are like there now though.

tabitha · 23/01/2006 22:22

Parts of Meadowbank are okay. Also what about Lochend (nice colonies houses there just off Lochend Road) or even Portobello. Don't know how much they would cost to rend but most likely cheaper thn Stockbridge/Marchmont.

I wish Pruni. I could do you a choice of either a 3 or 4 bed in the Stirling area - but that may be too far a cycle . And to be fair I would quite like to sell one of them soon!

I spoke with an estate agenty friend to day in Edinburgh and her view was surprising good for you. She reckons the rental market is flooded at the mo. and you should be able to get what you are after or there abouts. Also some landlords are looking for longer-term tenants and may be willing to negotiate on that basis. Good luck.
