Are their clothes quite hard wearing? Also what are the sizes like - is it one of those shops where you have to buy bigger?

No you don't have to buy bigger. They are made in New Zealand and it's the stuff to have over there, quite expensive. They are made to fit Kiwi babies who are usually bigger than ours

I've got a couple of Pumpkin Patch pieces for dd, and it's excellent quality, nice materials, well made and they wash beautifully. The sizes are more generous than most children's sizes are, so you don't have to buy bigger. They're not overly expensive compared to shops like Next or Gap, and the quality and styles are far better than either.

I too like Pumpkin Patch. Find the sizes about right, ds1 (6.5 but tall) grew out of his size 6 jamas from there about 4-5 mths ago.
I find it expensive bu tthen I am the queen of pass-ons and sales. Shop there in the sales and jamas are £7 (£14 waaaay too dear).
I love their hats, it's the only place I have found that sells summer hats that fit (ie in lots of sizes; my children all have big heads) presumably because they come from NZ where they are concerned about such things. Also even for ds1 I can find a hat I approve of, ie big brim, not a silly baseball cap that's neither use nor ornament.

I was given a beautiful PP all in one for my dd and it was fabulous - really thick jersey, v well made and washed like a dream. Was really sad when she grew out of it!

superb, I was there at its inception in a garage many many years ago when it was just in NZ and mail order
It still remains excellent quality and good value.
Sizes are generous but the best bit is that the toddler trousers have adjustable waists which is priceless for a skinny dd...

I bought a couple of tops in the Pumpkin Patch sale and have been very impressed. DD is quite tall and the tops are nice and long - lovely quality

zephyrcat · 20/01/2006 12:30

I thought they were a bit expensive too but they're at the end of the sale so there's a few reasonable bits in there...just wanted to be sure they aren't the type to fall apart like all our Next stuff has!!

I agree. Dd went off to nursery this morning looking very fetching in an olive green and rose pink jersey combo that can be boiled and still come back smiling.
Their stuff is hard-wearing and a bit different. Love it.

Lovely!

There is one opening near me in a few weeks - can't wait! I liked the comment about the hats - my ds is a big head and hats are a nightmare.

just got dd a winter hat I had coveted and not realised they had an online shop - it was in the sale for £2 and is fab - furry... Also, to make the p&p worth while I got a pair of trousers for her and seem good quality. I like the fact they do different colours - i.e. it is not all pink for girls !!

Cadmum · 20/01/2006 15:03

I love their clothes! Lots of our children's wardrobe is from there. Their Urban Angel range was absolutely spot-on when our niece was a pre-teen as her mum was not happy about the range of less than appropriate clothing available elsewhere.

MarsOnLife · 20/01/2006 17:51

And sadly for my bank account they are online

bobbybobbobbingalong · 20/01/2006 18:00

Wonderful for girls as not as all tarty, lovely fabrics and enough range that they are not all wearing the same thing. Lots of my students wear urban angel stuff for lessons and then a smarter outfit for concerts.

Boy stuff is made to last but is grungy and skaty after about size 2 (you can get grungy from 000 if that's your thing). It's all heavily printed with illustrations that would be rejected by book publishers as you can't tell what they are. I like the idea of adjustable waist trousers, but prefer the GAP ones.

None of my boy students wear it, and there would be nothing smart or plain enough for a concert.

The tops are on the wide side, with nice long sleeves. I have lots of second hand Pumpkin Patch from when little boys used to be little boys and not someone a little old lady would cross the road to avoid.
