i would really love to do a nursing course but have not qualifications to get onto the course. my options are to do k100 open university course for 1 yr, or do an access to health course over 18 mths (i have to do it PT because ive got a baby and a 3yr old) at my local college.
i havent studies since school (im 34, an oldie) so an ou course wont be the best option although the quickest i i know. i cant study ft with 2 little uns.
another question, any of u done the nursing course? i know its a 3 yr course ft or 6 yrs pt. is it really difficult?
any info appreciated.

im in the second yr of pt access course, only go to college 1 day a week. Have got a uni place for Oct and then my uni hours will be roughly mon, tues, thurs, fri 10.00-15.00 and weds 10.00-12.00.

but on placement i will be expected to do the 24 hr rota.

i love my access course, its the best thing i have ever done in my life- apart from having kids of course.

tiredemma- i will only be doing the nursing course pt so i wont be at uni as much as u. im wondering if the nursing course is 50/50 u know, half in uni half in workplace. i would love to complete the course in 3 years, but its not practical with young kids. gosh, i'll be 40 odd when i qualify. hope im not too old.

tiredemma · 12/01/2006 21:50

not many uni's do the pt course, so its worth checking out if your local one does.

mosschops - i live across the road from the POW hospital in bridend. which uni in cardiff does the nursing course then?
its prob quicker for me to travel to pontypridd than cardiff from bridgend.
what the tutor at the uni of glam said was, i could start the course pt and if and when my circumstances change, i could then go ft so it hopefully wont take me as long, i'll be 40 ish when i qualify. i have a 5month old baby and a 3 yr old so its not practical to go ft.

I'm in North Wales about equal distance from Countess of Chester and Wrexham Maelor. Do you get bursery's, allowance or whatever for study and help with childcare.
