look in local paper for a childminder?

NotQuiteCockney · 12/01/2006 09:34

Any local nanny agencies?

Aren't your kids all fairly big, so you need school run etc? Can you ask favour of other parents? Or ask spare au pairs etc?

acnebride · 12/01/2006 09:34

tell everybody, ring everybody, or bite the bullet and get an agency in?? will that remove any financial incentive to work?

where are you based, can't remember sorry? West Country?

Twiglett · 12/01/2006 09:34

no friends to help out .. just for a couple of days?

Beetrootfultoyourself · 12/01/2006 09:34

4 kids yes 12 - 6 (age) so many difernt school runs, homework etc. Would be worried about aksing mates.

OP posts:
Twiglett · 12/01/2006 09:35

that was very badly phrased .. sorry

I meant of course

Do you have any friends (SAHMs perhaps?) who might be able to help out for a couple of days .. even a rota between them?

Beetrootfultoyourself · 12/01/2006 09:36

my mates work, and with four it is difficult to spread them around. could et rid of ds1 and ds2 at a push but the little ones are more difficult. and I would not be home until late so bedtime etc.

I'd be trying to make swapsies arrangements, although it would be tricky. Or agency?

Do you have to go away for work?

Maybe local agency can find you temporary nanny with car?

Where are you? There are nanny agencies everywhere, I think.

NotQuiteCockney · 12/01/2006 09:38

Oh, agency then. If it won't completely erode benefit of working? Our local one charges something like £20 for referral, then nanny is only £6/hour!

nailpolish · 12/01/2006 09:38

i would take them if i lived near you beets

i understand what its like

Beetrootfultoyourself · 12/01/2006 09:39

in the sticks. half an hour from Bath.

It is not a simple as doing swappseys, the after school stuff here is a nightmare with choir. okay will look at nanny agency though scared of new person.

NotQuiteCockney · 12/01/2006 09:42

Little darlings seems to cover that area? Maybe? Here .

Hmm, searching for "Bath" seems to get me lots of information about what sort of bath you should give to a livein nanny, which isn't ideal. Which county is that?

Beetrootfultoyourself · 12/01/2006 09:43

going to ask my mums cleaner
going to ask sahm who I have done a huge favour for rectently.

Hi there. The childcarelink website has lists of childminders etc. You just put your postcode or town in.

HTH

Beetrootfultoyourself · 12/01/2006 09:46

hellybelly, thans but a can not work witha childminder, as need to be at home. kids finish at 3.30.5 and 6 then prep etc and then babysiter can take over once in bed.

ahh, actually could get dd to stay at school until 5. and get choir boys dropped home.

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 12/01/2006 09:46

Not sure a childminder would work, would it? Sounds like beety needs someone to do it in her house, iyswim.

Oh, you could post on netmums, and on craigslist. Might not work, but both are free to post on.

HellyBelly · 12/01/2006 09:47

That's ok, just wasn't sure what you needed. Have you advertised in the Nannyshare section?

NotQuiteCockney · 12/01/2006 09:49

Blackmore Vale Nannies sounds good, but their website has been hacked or something. This link talks about them.

Beetrootfultoyourself · 12/01/2006 09:49

bloody old nanny said she woudl help but only until 6. as she needs to get her 4 week old baby into a rutine..shall i tell her or you

NotQuiteCockney · 12/01/2006 09:53

I totally understand. Can you ask any local nannies etc that you know? Ask teachers at the school? See if anyone can spare their au pair?

I've used an agency nanny once, because I was too ill to do anything else. It worked fine. But I was around, so it's a different thing.

NotQuiteCockney · 12/01/2006 09:54

Oooh, I meant, ask teachers at the school if they knew anyone, but thinking about it, I often see various teachers at DS1's (primary) school bringing kids home etc ... there may be an option there, somewhere?

blimey, 2 days of work for you = approx 300 hours of organisation. then the person who offered you the work will say 'fantastic stuff, i've got another 3 days for you in a fortnight's time' and will wonder why you suddenly look like death.
