adult with possible Aspergers..........who do we ask for help?

not sure where to put this but thought it would get more replies here....

my aunt took in a 25(ish) year old lad......previously has been (more than) capable of looking after himself but ended up on the streets and his mental health deteriorated quite badly. he got in trouble with the police (stole a purse) and this was when my aunt took him in, to try and help him with the courts etc.
basically he has now been given a bedsit but he has seen two psychologists who have diagnosed Aspergers which subsequently has meant everyone has washed their hands of him as they class it as a medical illness and NOT a mental health issue.
he has the inability to let things go which includes bodily functions (sorry, it's not nice but this is why i'm asking for help)my aunt could convince him to wash but then he would put his dirty clothes back on under the clean ones she had given him. when he does his 'business' he hides it in his pockets/drawers etc.

can anyone suggest any organistaions that we can contact to get this lad some help..........he used to go to the gym on a regular basis and really take pride in himself, it is so hard to see the poor man this way and we are finding it frustrating being turned away by everyone we ask for help.

Talk to the NAS helpline. Adult services are almost non existent though I'm afraid. NAS the best place to start (google- sorry trying to get ds3 to sleep so can't look it up)

I believe that mental health problems are quite common in adults with Aspergers. Ditto Jimjams/Baka, try the NAS, www.nas.org.uk. If you're in London you could also contact Autism London. Well said Giddy, you and your aunt certainly are kind to care and try to help him.
