My dh is beginning to get on my nerves now. He wants to go to an American trade show the week before our 3rd baby is due

Baby due on 30 April. Trade show 25-29 April.

Its up to me to decide but of course is somehow crucial to his business.

Um, who's going to look after your other children? Help out after this one is born? Do you have family nearby to take over this role if he's away when you give birth?

NomDePlume · 10/01/2006 10:30

I'd rip his balls off, Enid. Those dates are too close for comfort.

He should stay - there will be other trade shows but only once will his kid be born.

America is too far, he'd never make it back in time if you went into labour whilst he was away.

munz · 10/01/2006 10:34

yep, too close for me, (but this is my first) would have thought with 2 other LO's it would be just as hard if not harder with child care etc.

is there another fair on later in the year he could do?

iota · 10/01/2006 10:35

he is in denial isn't he? holidays, people carriers and now this.

Miaou · 10/01/2006 10:38

If it's up to you to decide, then decision made, surely?

No way jose!!!

Enid · 10/01/2006 10:38

lol iota

you are not wrong

I have actually just rung him back and said no way. And by the way don't get in a strop if the baby is two weeks late.

this all comes of my SIL having elective c-sections (sorry SIL, not your fault but by god I get the convenience of them rammed down my throat )

were your other 2 on time ? not that it proves anything of course?

Enid · 10/01/2006 10:40

one was four days late, one 10 days

Enid - remind him of the inconvienince of having elective c-sections (and I speak as someone who thoroughly enjoyed my 2 -medically necessary ones natch)
You would be in hospital for 5 days, leaving him to not only look after your 2 children, but also expected to visit you and the new baby every day. When you got home you would be incapable of lifting either of your older children, or driving for 6 weeks, which I think for you would mean that he would have to do the school run twice a day. And he's have to do all the hoovering for 3 months.

iota · 10/01/2006 10:42

well you'd better make sure the next one is on time or you'll never hear the end of it -- lots of curry, pinapple, and all teh usual old wives tales

iota · 10/01/2006 10:43

agree with cd -- my dh took a month off to care for ds1 when I had ds2 by c-section

Gillian76 · 10/01/2006 10:43

Don't think I'd be happy. I had 2 late babies and then one on his EDD. Don't think I'd ever be early but you never know - babies are so unpredictable!

iota · 10/01/2006 10:44

sorry prufrock not cd

Janh · 10/01/2006 10:44

beginning to get on your nerves now?

Flamesparrow · 10/01/2006 10:44

Mine is requesting that our baby be on time as his xbox has some great new game released around due date, and he'll have 2 weeks at home to play with it

Half determined to squeeze it out 2 1/2 weeks early just to spite him

annh · 10/01/2006 10:44

Perhaps you might remind your husband that apart fromt the "convenience" (for him) of you having an elective C-section you would then be in even less of a position to cope on your own while he was away!
