Are you for or against the Occupy London (and other cities) movement?

Or somewhere in between?

I've just been down to St Paul's for the first time in years, and was pleasantly surprised by how positive and informative the demonstration is. I realise that there's an awful lot I don't know about the underground machinations of our modern societies. A lot of "unknown unknowns", to quote Donald Rumsfeld (how ironic) Wink.

And while I dislike some aspects of the protest - such as the 'society's dropouts' element (and this by no means characterises the majority of people there)...I have to concede that, unlike me, they are getting off their arses and actually doing something about what they believe in.

What do the rest of you think?

Hi Maya,
I arrived at the Occupy site outside the London Stock Exchange on October 15th and have spent the majority of every week there ever since. I have never done anything like this before and am constantly surprised by it.

Despite media suggesting otherwise (or ignoring us which may well be preferable lol!) we have achieved a great deal, including:

tentcityuniversity.occupylsx.org/ &
www.bankofideas.org.uk/

...as well as starting a conversation that should have been had a long time ago.

Today I am deeply concerned - moreso than ever, due to a letter from the police and in today's Independent (www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/police-in-city-see-occupiers-as-terror-risk-6272434.html ) that names us as 'Domestic Terrorists'!! I am stunned.

I wish to declare now that I am NOT a terrorist!

I am just a grandma in a tent who is fed up with social injustice brought about by the relationship the financial sector has with government. I simply want the lunacy of bank bailouts, tax havens and tax avoidance by big business to end so that we can stop cutting vital local services, improve education, improve the NHS, improve the lives of our elderly and ease the burden on the common man. We ALL get just one life and it would be a whole lot better if it wasn't spent chasing around to make a bloody living in order to survive and strive for a retirement that doesn't offer the choice between food and heat.

Why should the 1% with the control and the wealth and the influence live by different tax laws (or avoid them all together with expert accountants and friends in government)?

Why should big corporations use our roads, have their workforce cared for by our NHS and take all that the UK provides (through OUR taxes) - yet avoid paying taxes themselves to cover the costs?

I AM NOT A TERRORIST... I am just p*ssed off!!
