Dh works evenings, the kids are in bed by 8, I don't do housework in an evening, the TV is rubbish and I can't spend all my time on here.
I need a hobby, preferably something thats not too big, or expensive.

Any recommendations?

card making is good and enjoyable & an expensive as you make it. I started earlier this year but just haven't got into it big time. ahve spent loads a dosh on stuff but am thinking of selling. Dh will do mad though.

Scrapbooking your family piccies????

notasheep · 01/01/2006 21:14

Read good books

Posey · 01/01/2006 21:24

Thanks folks.
Read a lot, but it sends me to sleep!
Used to knit and crochet, but only when mum was around to help me.
Have had a go at card making, mainly Christmas ones.
Not too sure scrapbooking is my thing, not sure why though...

Any more?!

How's about studying ?
OU - courses - find anything you like and I'll be your studying buddy - as I soooo need to use my time properly.

Buy a cross stitch magazine with a free kit on it Try and see...you might get adddicted, but if you dont, it was only a couple of quid to try

Posey · 01/01/2006 21:38

Do you know I think thats what I need, to use my brain a bit more. I'm returning to work this week, at a local pre-school. I'm a trained nurse but have no childcare qualifications, just loads of experience. Wouldn't mind converting some of that to a qualification.
Or maybe something completely different.
What do you fancy?

Could try a cross stitch! Don't think I'm really crafty.

I bought myslef a "teach yourself to knit" set for christmas.
I was going to use it until I read the instructions.....OMG I think quantum physics would be easier to understand!
I can knit, but want to get better and the insructions make no sense at all.... even for the parts I know how to do.

Crystaltips · 01/01/2006 21:49

I am open to anything .... I have done lots of part time courses - ( more creative )

Digital Photography
Aromatherapy
Painting with Water Colours
god - the list goes on ...

but feel that the old grey matter needs to be stretched ..

A language
Art History
ChildCare

I am totally flexible ....

natmeistergeneral · 01/01/2006 21:51

i was thinking of tracing my family tree- a mate of mine is totally into it and has found it really interesting.Nice for thr kids too.

expatinscotland · 01/01/2006 21:53

SUDOKU! Crossword puzzles.

Why not learn Latin?

I'm playing w/it whilst on mat leave. I am a native Spanish speaker and also know French, so learning Latin is even more fun.

I love cardmaking and scrapbooking, too.

My mum loves painting and flower arranging - those are fun, too, for more creative types.

Posey · 01/01/2006 21:55

My dad's been doing that for years, you should see their spare bedroom, full of files. Dead interesting though, the stuff he's found out...

Okay, so how do I decide what course and where do I go next? (bit rusty in the old grey matter department)

How about making your own greetings cards?

Ive started doing this the past few months and its soo satisfying, very cheap and everyone always appreciates it!

NannyL · 01/01/2006 22:19

(oh im also well and truley addicted to sudoku.... having completed all the times sudoku books (the whole sudoku book 3 WITHOUT a pencil, i ALL in my head including all the fiendish!)

Having recently counted i currently have at about 8+ sudoku books, and can honestly say today i must have done 30, 20ish sudoku and 10ish Kelkuroo.

also pretty much completed a sudokuX book!

Posey · 01/01/2006 22:26

Sometimes when I'm at my mum and dad's, in the evening when kids are in bed, we'll all be at it! All have different ways of going about them though. This is why I need a hobby!
