I'd take the train too. Much simpler.

starlover · 31/12/2005 20:25

well, i don't live in London... but am pretty sure you won't be able to park anywhere nearby without spending a small fortune

beansprout · 31/12/2005 20:25

Where are you travelling from?

hoxtonchick · 31/12/2005 20:25

it will bankrupt you to park round there.

foxinsocks · 31/12/2005 20:26

there's a very good parking lot near the park at the top - I'll see if I can find it online (and the rates are reasonable)

foxinsocks · 31/12/2005 20:29

here - it's one of the Q-parks called Kingston House (click on route map for the location). The rates are very reasonable.

drosophila · 31/12/2005 20:31

Thanks foxinsocks. I live in Streatham and with a bad back and 2 kids I avoid train journeys. If it was just me I would always take the train.

I used to live in Queens Gate Gardens - about 6 mionutes walk from there. On Sundays and bank holidays the resident parking limitations didnt used to apply (this is going back 5 yrs) so anyone could park in the resident bays. dont know if it still like that but if so any residential roads rounfd there should be ok.

coribells · 31/12/2005 20:34

I think you dont have to pay at parking meters on BH. Usually if you just circle a few times you will find a spot. I always have.

PrincessPlumPuddingHead · 31/12/2005 21:01

you can park in residents bays and parking bays for free on a bank holiday. lots of spaces up exhibition road or queensgate or in thurloe square. have a nice time

Watch out on residents parking permit places, alot of them are enforced on Sundays and bhs.
There's a red route on Cromwell Road, right outside natural history museum, which isn't in force on a Sunday (just check on the signs to be sure)
There are 2 car parks, one is in Imperial college Road, entrance just along from science museum, costs £11 for 4 hours or £16 for 6. Another one in Harrington Road or Stanhope Gardens which if further to walk but cheaper.
