Any ideas?

three and a half on top, but you have to have a rail of some kind
about 2 on the bottom

Mincepiedermama · 30/12/2005 13:12

Mine had them at 3 and 5. The maufuacturers said '7' but they have to cover themeselves. As long as the top bunk has a little fence so they can't roll off it's fine.
The bunks also provide great indoor climbing frames.

JenumGeranium · 30/12/2005 13:13

We have them and my ds's are 6 and 3!

RudolphsAuntMabel · 30/12/2005 13:14

So would DS1 (4 just) be ok the? I suspect yes. but DS2 is 15m, he'd be ok in a normal bed with one of those rail things up wouldn't he? DS1 didn't go to a bed till he was about 2.5.

Would you be putting the 4 year old on the top bunk?

RudolphsAuntMabel · 30/12/2005 13:23

Errm yes.... don't think DS2 would manage a ladder safely yet

Sorry - that did make me look really stupid, I was just a tad confused as to whether 4 year old would be in bottom and younger child in a seperate bed!

I am all in a muddle - must be the thread on orgasms!

I am not sure whether 4 years is too young for the top bunk.

RudolphsAuntMabel · 30/12/2005 13:31

I thought that. Was considering all options including one of those high rise beds with a space underneath for storage and getting ds2 a futon for under it. That way DS1 wouldn't be as high up as he would in a normal bunk bed and DS2 could just roll in and out as he pleases.

Yeah that sounds like a good idea as long as there is enough room underneath for your son to sit up and not bang his head.

RudolphsAuntMabel · 30/12/2005 13:39

The one I've seen has about 3ft underneath, I guess when ds2 got too big we'd trade up to proper bunks but we really need the extra space for them now and a bed and a cot are taking up a lot of room. I'd make a huge different to their play space.

Yes I know what you mean!

I would go with that then and then as you say trade up to bunk beds when they are older!

hayleylou · 30/12/2005 13:54

SNAP - I asked the same question about bunks this morning lol

RudolphsAuntMabel · 30/12/2005 14:09

How old are yours?

OP posts:
hayleylou · 30/12/2005 14:14

DS is 3 and DD is 1 and half!

RudolphsAuntMabel · 30/12/2005 14:18

ds1 is 4 next friday and ds2 is 15 months. are you going to get some b.beds then?

OP posts:
hayleylou · 30/12/2005 14:21

Thinking of it, as we are moving back to our house in UK (currently in Germany) and cannot really afford to move to larger house, so i thought it might be a temp solution. Have been looking at the ones that split into two single beds so when we do move they will have beds save buying new ones again!

RudolphsAuntMabel · 30/12/2005 14:26

Yeah, I looked at those, but as DS1 has a habit of getting out of bed in the middle of the night I want as short a fall as I can get for him!!
