Whiny 8yo wants to watch loud programme and is moaning because I said no, spoilt brat. Play with your toys quietly, dammit!
dd woke at 6.45am despite a late night, I was hoping for an 8am start as she's done a few of those recently.
The children are LOUD
Dh and I had one of those 'Right, I'll get up shall I, HMM?' discussions followed by us both stropping downstairs. I banged about a bit and then sent him back to bed, where he now languishes. He was telling me to go back to bed and I was telling him to go, in an elaborate bluffing game, neither of us meant it - we BOTH wanted more sleep
We are supposed to be going to a party tonight and I don't want to - it's cold and I look rubbish and I'm tired and would far rather have an early night

I am officially middle aged. Thanks for listening. Please feel free to add your own whinges here.

Go and sleep, let him sulk downstairs, I am going to back to sleep as soon as Dh gets up after all I got up when HIS dog was barking

Nbg · 30/12/2005 09:23

Symphathies are with you.

I know that bluffing game very well.
It happens alot in our house.

You feel better as the day goes on.

Go and enjoy your party

sparklymieow · 30/12/2005 09:23

Oh he is asleep, sleep later on.

Dh has gone off to work and accidentally shut the dog in the back garden where it is snowing copiously. I yell downstairs asking one of the boys to let the dog in before he destroys yet another catflap trying to get our attention. One of the boys eventually drags himself away from the television long enough to go to the back door and then comes away saying the dog isn't out there. Now I can see the dog from my bathroom window, so I yell down that he is out there. Several yelling sessions later, I have to come down 2 floors and let the blasted dog in myself. He's a rather large dog, too, so not easy to miss. Humph.

Switch the telly on, plug in headphones for her. Pour yourself a nice steaming mug of hot chocolate. Grab a mince pie/choc roll/box of chocs, newspaper/good book and relax for a bit.
Then wake up Dh tell him he has had his lie in, you go back to bed/have a nice long hot bath to soak in
Lunch - eat out.
Afternoon - send DH and children out for 10 pin bowling/cinema etc and relax for a bit to recharge and get ready for tonight.

My DH is sleeping (worked till 5am), kids are running wild in PJs still. Need to get them dressed and face the sales as DD1 has not got a single pair of trousers that fit properly - suddenly shot up - and both probably need feet measuring. Going to be expensive and boring morning

WideWebWitch · 30/12/2005 09:27

Ha ha Freckle! Sometimes by the time I've finished yelling up/downstairs to tell ds where something is it would have been easier to do it/get it myself. Really, I just want a day in bed with dh with the children in suspended animation or something.

Hey! I like this thread.

LadyTophamHatt · 30/12/2005 09:58

LOL www, I do that "I'll get up" thing too.

I'm such a bloody martyr(is that the right word) at times and it really annoys me!

The phrase Cutting my nose off to spite my face spring to mind when I'm getting out of bed early again

(I will just say that Dh works shifts so 90% of the time he does have a legitimate reason for staying in bed)

harpsichordcarrier · 30/12/2005 10:03

lol no don't worry I'll get up
huffpuffstompstomp

we have instituted a rule of he gets up on Sunday, me on a Saturday to avoid the temptation to matyrdom

daisiesinaline · 30/12/2005 10:38

PMSL at this thread! So its not just us that do the 'Hummph I"LL GET UP THEN' stomp!

I had a rather irritating night. DS3 slept through for once. Rarely does but he did last night. HURRAH!!

BUT, I went to bed late cos I couldn't get off MN!
Then DS1 woke me at 11.45 pm cos he had a bad dream. DD2 woke me at 1.30 am cos she needed a wee. DH woke me at 3 am coming home pissed and then proceeded to snore til 4 am. .

I then got up at 7 am with the baby and kids but give DH his due.... he did come down sheepishly at 7.15 and sent me back to bed. HURRAH!!!!! and I have only just got up. ;)

LoveMyGirls · 30/12/2005 12:14

we always plan in advance who is going to get up and we swap.
